2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

I decided to give this hotel another chance after my stay in July 2012. Big mistake. I am not sure of the clientele that this Hotel is aiming at, but one thing is very clear - at the standard room rates of 300 USD plus taxes, it is grossly overrated. The upper management of the Hilton Group would do well to pay a visit to the place incognito to experience just how bad it is. The rooms are nothing to be proud of, being small and poorly equipped - the mini-bar is particularly surreal, in that it is totally empty. And forget about having any water provided - you will get two small bottles upon check in (if you are lucky - i had to ask twice for water to be delivered to the room), and after that, you will have to buy the water at extortionate prices in the lobby or venture to a local shop. The major problem with this hotel is that some of the most important staff - particularly two of the long-serving staff at the front desk - have no personal manner to speak of, are often dismissive and occasionally just plain rude. Also, the breakfast is very poor and overpriced. No healthy options and very limited fresh fruit on offer, with nothing even remotely Bahamian. Avoid this hotel.

Room Tip: If you have no other choice, at least get a room that faces the ocean, although the hotel charges a...

I've stayed here several times on business and I've never been disappointed. For the business traveler it's a great location as it's conveniently located right downtown next to all the shops and restaurants yet still maintains a tropic resort like atmosphere for after-hours when there is some time to unwind. It's a water-front hotel with a small beach, pool and a pool-side bar. I've eaten often at the Aqua restaurant and I would recommend the catch of the day as it's always cooked fresh. Because it's a Hilton you can expect all the comforts in the room. Although I stay here on business there are still lots of tourists as it's a great location.

My suggestions to improve your stay: the Bahamian dollar is at par with USD. The front desk offers money exchange with no service charges so it was actually cheaper for me to exchange from CDN to USD at the front desk than do it at my local bank. The water in the hotel has an after taste so if you enjoy making a coffee in your room in the AM then you should buy some bottled water. Otherwise there is a Dunkin Donuts and McDonalds right across the street. There is no in-room mini bar but there is a mini-fridge and with a liquor store right across the street - $2.30 per Kailik which is not very cheap but convenient - you can put a couple of bottles in your min-fridge. It's a $12 taxi ride to Atlantis. If you visit after 5 PM you can avoid the daytime entrance fees. I enjoy walking around the grounds and the beaches, touring the aquarium and playing some roulette. Make sure you check out the marina to see how the top 1% live. If you are on a budget you may want to avoid eating here as a beer and slice of pizza is around $12.

We stayed here with our 5 month old son; the staff was so accommodating and made things easy for us. We had a suite, which gave us access to the 7th floor lounge. This was awesome, as we could have breakfast up there and snacks during the afternoon... I would definitely recommend booking a suite if you're traveling with an infant. We were able to hang out in the other room after he went to bed at 6:30 and ordered room service every night!

Room Tip: Guests staying in suites have access to the executive lounge for breakfast, snacks and open bar duri...

Just returned from our stay in Nassau, which was business for my husband while I enjoyed some R&R. Location is great, a short walk into town, close to shops, restaurants. We had a lovely water view room, very clean and relatively large bathroom with both bath and separate shower. We watched the daily arrivals of cruise ships that were docked right out in front of the hotel. Aqua restaurant was very good and we liked to sit outside. The buffet breakfast, at $19.95 +tx/pp had a good selection from egg station, fresh fruit, yogurts, hot and cold cereal, bacon and turkey sausage and of course baked goods. We also had a dinner special which included a soup, Lobster Thermador with rice and veggies and a guava creme brule for desert, all for $42+tx/pp and it was delicious. Charge everything to your room and make sure to check your hotel bill as a friend had added charges to his room which he disputed as they weren't his. There was always plenty of loungers either by the pool or the beach even with the cruise passengers who would visit for the day. We had a very pleasant stay and would recommend for a business stay.

Room Tip: An upgrade to water view is well worth it.

Well situated with its own private beach, fabulous breakfast (although you pay 'handsomely' for it) and great as a base for a holiday but poor facilities for business travellers, which is strange as the Hilton chain is known for business hotels. Business centre has been closed in favour of a desk in the noisy lounge which anyone can use and which only prints from one antiquated PC. All public areas are FREEZING cold and all requests to turn the air-con down are ignored as are requests to turn down the music in the lounge area, which is the only area available to meet with colleagues without paying (again 'handsomely') to hire a meeting room. So if you want to talk with anyone, you have to shout at them and wear a coat! In fact, the only reason we stay there is because of its convenient location - if there were an alternative, we would use it!

Room Tip: Rooms around the lifts and ice machines opposite are noisy.

Went to British Colonial Hilton with fellow divorced female friend over spring break without children. Hotel had a nice adult feel to it. Pool was clean and well kept, but small private beach was where we spent our days. Rooms were clean and even though we were on the main road in Nassau, it was extremely quiet. The proximity to restaurants, bars, shopping and the local beach which was fun, relaxed and a good place to people watch and enjoy a Pina Colada was key. We had a fabulous time and are planning to return.

This hotel is certainly not on the best beach in the Bahamas. Go to Harbour Island for this! It is however in a great location for shops and restaurants. We loved Cafe Matisse and Van Breugel's, both of which are within walking distance. The pool area is an interesting spot from which to watch the cruise ships coming and going and the beach is small but adequate and quite pretty for a city hotel. We found the concierge staff, Adrian in particular, to be very helpful and reception staff were generally charming. Service was a bit slow but that seems the norm in the Bahamas. Our first room was somewhat dark and next to the lifts but the reception staff moved us as soon as another room became available. All in all we would be happy to return here.

Room Tip: Room 336 is very dark and next to the lifts!
