“Wyndham Nassauu Resort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2011

My husband and I visited Nassau this Sept 2011 and were looking forward to going in the off seasons hoping for no crowds. The hotel itself was ok, the room was nice, pretty big and clean with nice toiletries, and even a fridge which is rare. We did have a nice balcony with a partial view of the beach. It looked like most if not all rooms have a balcony. The hotel did have 4 towers and it looked like only 2 were occupied with hotel guests. Directly across from our balcony was a tower that upon arrival actually looked abandoned, sliders open, rooms inside a mess, junk on the balcony. Then I noticed a lot of them had contruction boots on the balcony and over the 4 nights we were there, we came to realized that the construction workers from the resort being built across the street must be staying there. Still fairly surprising that the hotel would not require them to keep it tidy for the sake of their reputation. The dining quality at the hotel was good, however since it was off season, not all restaurants were open, we did have a hard time findng out which hotel was open each night unless we actually walked all the way to it and read the sign. Then finally on the 3rd night, we say inside one of the cafe's a chart on when each restaraunt woud be open. I think it's fine to have them closed but felt they could have done a better job letting guests know, perhaps give a hand out upon check in, place the sign post in or near the elevators etc. The pool and beach area were great and was where we spent the bulk of our time. The pool was huge and also had a huge water slide. For the beach, you could go into the lagoon side for calm very warm water or just a few steps further past their cute tiki doc area to the open ocean which was wonderful too. Not a ton to do around this area on foot, pool, beach, the Daq Shack across the street for great fresh fruit drinks, the casino in between the Wydham and the Sheraton, very small but we had fun playing the penny slots for a bit and enjoying the cheaper drinks offered there. We thought there'd be a bit more of a night light with in the hotel area but considering how quiet it was there, it is to be expected. Overall the hotel was worth what we paid, we made full use of the pool and beach which was exactly why I choose this hotel after much research.

Room Tip: ask for a lagoon/pool view

I had a fairy tale wedding!! My guests and I stayed at this hotel and the service was great. My wedding planner, Denise Bastian, treated us like loyalty and made our stay very pleasent. She made sure that everything we needed for our wedding was taking care of and she made my dream weddind come true! I couldn't have asked for more. The food was great, our cake was beautiful, our flowers and decorations were expectacular, the DJ played all the music we liked, our pictures came our great and our video made everyone cry! We all had a blast and enjoyed every minute we were there. Now we are all back to the real-world and wish we were back in the Bahamas.

Room Tip: Our corner suite was absolutely gorgeous....on a high floor and with the ocean view!

We booked a four night break with CheapCaribbean staying at the Wyndham Nassau Resort. Then I read reports from recent vistors stating that it was a terrible place and they would never return. Nothing could be further from the fact. And we regularly stay at 4 and 5 star hotels.
This resort was clean tidy, spacious, provided plenty of amenities, a great pool and a beautiful beach. I upgraded to a corner suite which was huge, with kingsize bed - nice cotton sheets changed regularly - and an enormous balcony overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It was fantastic and great value for the upgrade price.
The food generally was expensive and not really good value for money, with the exception of the Black Angus Steak Restaurant. This too was expensive but in this case, worth it.
Service was so-so with the notable reception of Gweneth at reception who was superb. Nassau itself was pretty shabby so can safely be avoided.
By booking with CheapCaribbean we did not have to pay the daily resort fee. This was a great restful vacation at a good value for money deal. Recommended.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a corner suite and ask for an ocean view!

We have been going to the Wyndham Nassau Resort since it was built about 25 years ago. It has gone through many names such as Marriott, Carnival, etc. We use to love going there and even purchased time share there from Royal Holiday Club. We went last year probably for the last time. (supposedly someone purchased it again!) It is so seedy now.... We were soooooo unhappy. The rooms are run down, even though they have tried to up date them. The casino is only 1/2 the size that it use to be. They took out our favorite slots and you had to buy drinks. Don't go there if you want a nice vacation until they redo it!! Contact me.....
There

Room Tip: Request a corner suite. They are the best rooms even though they are run down.

Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino thanks you as a repeat customer over the years and sincerely apologizes for the inconveniences caused during your recent visit with us. Our multi-million dollar redevelopment project is in motion together with new slot machines for the Casino which we hope to installed by end of year.

Again, our apologies and we hope to have you visit again.

We were supposed to stay at Breezes, but because of some hurricane damage, we were sent to The Wyndham. This resort has no all inclusive option, so it had to be implemented to accomodate all the Breezes people. We had to "sign" for everything we ate or drank, and only had a couple bars to choose from and one restaraunt. The food wasn't bad and it seemed that there was no consistancy to the prices. The beach was small. The pool was filthy. The rooms were clean. There was absolutely no entertainment at this resort at all! I imagine they wanted everyone in the Casino, which whenever I looked in....there was never anyone there! There were a couple bartenders that were pretty entertaining....but that's about it! If Someone told me they wanted a resort in the Bahamas that had entertainment other than a casino....I would definately not send them here. This place was boring, boring, boring.

Room Tip: Beautiful views in the oceanview catagory from the balcony at night!

Thank you for your visit to our property. Our hotel is not an all-inclusive property, but rather a family resort. However, we provide several entrainment options such as Karaoke on Wednesdays, Thursday is our Managers Cocktail Party and on weekends our live band plays a good mix of music.

Sorry we weren’t’ able to keep you entertained.

The location is beautiful, and the people very, very friendly. Our room is cleaned and maintained beautifully everyday. The facilities are dated a bit and it could use some TLC (tender loving care).

After booking this hotel for our trip, i decided to look at the reviews. I immediately thought that I have made a huge mistake, but I kept the reservation because we were only going to be sleeping there and we werent going to be there very much. When we arrived I thought ok its not too bad. We got to our room and it was pretty spacious and it was clean. The only thing was it kind of smelled old and musty. It wasnt that big of deal though. After going out at night we would come back and order room service. All the food was really good! Then they would call us and make sure that everything was ok. which I thought was good hospitality. We also ordered extra towels and they came within three minutes. I also got a call in ten minutes to make sure I got the towels and if there was anything else they could do for us. All and all it was a good hotel... the only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because the property is a little older. I will be staying here again if I go back to the Bahamas!

Room Tip: We stayed in 311 and we had a great view of the ocean.
