We stayed at Caneel Bay on our honeymoon 25 years ago and were so happy to return for our 25th! We even stayed in the exact same bungalow and had such a great trip. The staff were wonderful, the service was incredible and the food was just amazing - everything that we remembered. The beaches (private) were the best that you could imagine and just so tranquil. Very quiet and relaxing which is just what we wanted. The only thing we regret is not staying longer!

Room Tip: We stayed in an ocean view and really loved it - it lived like a duplex and we never heard another s...

From the first moment to the last, our vacation at Caneel Bay was superb. The staff are remarkable in their style of service, quiet efficiency and attitudes. The myriad of beaches are heavenly and I think we sampled every one. Our suite was heavenly with the most comfortable bedding, lovely toiletries and superbly private. The food was some of the very best we have experienced. We looked forward to every meal, the presentations were so artful, the food so impeccably prepared. We returned with memories to last for at least a couple more years. We are already planning a return visit.

A great island retreat. Its not easy to get to, but any time a private ferry drops you off 15 steps from a barstool you know you're in for a great visit. Beautiful property, large and comfortable rooms are great compliments for the several beaches, hiking trails, eateries and watering holes available to guests. It seemed that everywhere I sat down there was some extremely friendly staff member asking if they could retrieve a delicious concoction from the bar, it was only for me to sit perfectly still and await its arrival.

Wife and I took a trip this past June and I've just booked airfare for our return in May; we've been to alot of great places in the islands and Caneel ranks right up there with only Jumby Bay in our eyes. And since at the end of the day all I want to do is relax in a beach chair with a painkiller in my hand why not do it for half the price.

In all seriousness, the reviewer who said it's unspoiled place for unspoiled people said it best. Spot on. We prefer the superior beachfront rooms and the extra cost is worth the dollars. We also prefer Caneel's two restaurants over Zozo's.

My only wish for Caneel would be for larger rooms - with four kids that are approaching travel age I wish they had larger accomodations for larger families. Nicolas-> build us a few 2 BR villas and we will spend alot more money in the years to come.

We stayed at this resort for a few days. We were particularly impressed not only with the resort itself, but with the service and 'can-do' attitude of all of the staff. For example we asked a guy who came to fix the celling fan for ice, and after starting to say that was clearly not in his job description, he ended up saying 'I'll take care of it', and sure enough 30 minutes later ice showed up on our doorstep.

We stayed during a time of year where the resort was not very busy, so we felt like we had a private beach most of the time. We snorkeled every day, and saw turtles and sting rays every time we went into the water.

As you would expect the food was pretty expensive, but the bar menu was the most reasonable so we ate most meals there. If I remember correctly it was > $20 for a single roll of sushi, which we never ordered.

We also did use the child care service, and yet again found a 'can-do' attitude, and reasonable rates.

The main, and only downside of this resort is that after all fees are included, the >>$500/night price was a lot more than we are used to paying. We ended up cutting our stay short for that and only that reason, which was unfortunate (and we learned, misguided) but we just couldn't justify 7 or 8 days at that rate. We were a little frustrated that they were charging us that much when they were well under 50% occupancy(probably under 30%), but we called them once to see if there was anything they could do and the answer was essentially no.

But all in all, if your pocket book can withstand the rates, we would absolutely recommend this resort.

Very family/kid friendly; lots to do--good grub and affable! Great views, pools, fab ocean-front. Their local fish was sumptuous--and we'll be back.
