“Perfection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Our most favorite special place to eat on the island - and still is. Three of us ate up at the bar for an awesome sunset(though we did miss Carlos). Jarrod is an excellent replacement. We all ordered different fresh fish dishes, sampled each others and each felt that theirs was THE BEST! Hard to argue with that. Fresh bronzini , pink snapper and shrimp were our choices but there are several others. We are going back to get the Osso Bucco again tomorrow. Still looking for something that is not perfection there. And yes it is pricey but definitely worth it.

“Great views, Great food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2012

Make a reservation to sit at the bar and watch the sunset, you will be glad you did! We had amazing drinks and fantastic meal on our last night in St John. The menu is a little pricey (compared to most St John restaurants) but ZoZo's is completely worth it!

“Nothing to write home about”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

Honestly - Click on 3 star reviews and read them carefully, most of them are right on the money.
Most people who leave 5 star for Zozo are too proud to admit the price of meal they paid wasn't worth it

Here are a few points worth mentioning:
Skip the beats salad - mess of plate and flavors. Seafood pasta appetizer (a-la paella) was actually decent.

Osso buco was actually tender and a decent portion size, but as others mentioned the sauce was overcooked

The lobster dish was very very spicy - not mentioned by waiter and caused indigestion later on.

Lack of espresso in Italian restaurant ?? Seriously ? The sunset view was only ok, mostly due to Gallows resort was blocking most of it

Average food and very high prices -> skip it

“Zozo's is So-So”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

Zozo's has a very nice view, with arguably the best ambiance on St. John, and their wine list is superb. But the food is mediocre. The squid-ink fettuccine with seafood was an oily, chitinous stew, of no particular taste, containing rubbery calamari and rock shrimp that had a cardboard texture. The osso buco was tender, but the sauce was very heavy, with a strange aftertaste, as if it were soaked in store-bought Jack Daniels brand BBQ sauce (more on that flavor later).

The staff were nice, and joked about how they feed a feral rooster pine nuts soaked in Jack Daniels--and this is kind of a metaphor for the food preparation: start with decent ingredients, and then overcook them ( the calamari) or add too many flavors ( the osso buco). This heaviness of confused tastes might be tolerated in a less lauded restaurant, but Zozo's is really expensive--expect to spend more than $150, without tip, for two people. At that price, I expect dishes with some nuance, if not perfection. This was a mishmash of poor preparation and confused recipes, as if the kitchen did not know how to make a sauce for a pasta or a veal, so they combined several sauces randomly.

“Wedding Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

My husband and I dined at Zozo's to celebrate or nuptials earlier in the day. Service was outstanding, from the parking attendant, servers, and the the owner -John. Appetizers were hard to select as they all sounded delicious. Mahi Mahi, aged steak and grilled lobster tail stuffed with crab melted in our mouthes. We felt the price was very reasonable foe an upscale restaurant as we would have paid much more for the same meal in the D.C. Area.
