“The most beautiful little beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

Very quiet snorkeling spot. Not a ton of fish but quiet little spot that is good for older kids. All of the coves are great. This one is good if Trunk is too crowded.

“Secluded, but Next to Trunk Bay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

OK, I lived on nearby St. Thomas for many years and somehow I never found Jumbie Beach until this recent trip. It has a nice walkway and a good, shallow reef, and you will not likely be sharing it with a crowd. Like most areas, you may have to explore a little to find the best snorkeling, but if the waves are not rough, you can find good snorkeling here.

“Cool stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

We didn't swim or snorkel here. The reef looked like it spread all accross the shore making it hard to swim here at all. We stopped here because Trunk Bay had no parking, and we found some open spots here. What made it cool was the birds. I guess there is alot of fish here because the pelicans were literely dive bombing into the water. We stayed here just to watch the several dozens of birds. Cool diversion for a little while.

“Murky Water - Dead Coral”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

I thought Jumbie would be a great beach. It's a short walk from the main road, and there are a few parking spaces. The beach itself is by itself and not a lot of people come down there. So if it's just beach you want, Jumbie is pretty good. But snorkeling ... forget it.

First there is a lot of junk that floats in, making it hard to be close to shore. Secondly, much of the reef is dead and it's pretty shallow. Honestly, I'd skip it if I were you. If you really want to snorkel there, go off to the right where the reef is in a little better shape.

“SHHHHHH! Keep it a Secret”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

This is one of my favorite beaches (ok, one of my many favorite beaches) on St. John. Since there are only 6 parking spots, you are guaranteed to have an uncrowded beach. There are plenty of shade-providing Sea Grape trees and the water was calm when we visited.
As one poster mentioned, there are a lot of ants on this beach for some reason. However, they did not bite us and the pros far outweigh the cons on this beach. Easy path down to the beach from the parking lot.
