“Turtles!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

If you want to see sea turtles, when you get to the beach, walk to the right and go at least half way to the end of the beach. Turtles will be in the grass about 15-20 yards from shore. The rocks all the way to the left side contain lots of fish. Take a cooler full of drinks and enjoy an awesome day!

“Favorite St. John beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

This beach doesn't have all of the amenities as Trunk or Cinnamon. But, Maho is perfect for long beachfront walks in the super soft white sand. The waves are calm, the water warm, parking is convenient for carrying chairs & coolers to your perfect spot. There is a palm tree-line for ducking under the shade. FYI, only 1 concrete, porta-potty style bathroom. Bring food & drinks, nothing for sale close-by.

“Paradise!”

No need to snorkel. We saw sting rays, long fish, large fish and pelicans right from the beach. No bugs, no crowds. Water was very clear it was like swimming in a pool.

Maho was one of our favorite snorkeling spots with starfish and sea turtles! Take a picnic lunch and enjoy!

“Sea turtles, starfish, rays, conchs, and a wonderful beach to boot!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

Every year we make a point of stopping at Maho to snorkel. It is calm, clear (generally) and beautiful. Easy access and typically uncrowded (unlike Trunk where they bring in cruise ship day trippers by the taxi-load). We always enjoy floating and watching the sea turtles, typically you'll see anywhere from 2 or 3 to more floating below. In February there were so many conchs - in other years I've seen lots of starfish. There are typically rays gliding along the sandy bottom - and tons of colorful fish along the reefs on either edge.

A great stop for the day if you're driving and if by taxi, just let the driver know you want to be picked up at a certain time - generally they are very amenable to coming back!

In short - this beach is just a perfect place to enjoy a few leisurely hours in perfect, clear water.
