Description: Serving Funky Southeast Asian Inspired Cuisine! We serve our food in an unconventional manner, where there are no appetizers or entrees. The food comes out of the kitchen as it is prepared by the Chef. Therefore, we recommend ordering several dishes off of the menu and encourage sharing. Our cuisine is made up of locally sourced ingredients when available. Our flavor profiles are comprised of spice, sweet, sour, salty, and savory. Our cocktails are just as flavorful and as interesting as our cuisine. All of our wines were sourced from Michael Skurnik Wines and were hand-picked by Michael himself. The wines were selected to complement the wide variety of flavors in our cuisine and they were shipped in temperature controlled containers to ensure the integrity of the wines. We believe this style of dining creates an intimate, comfortable, and fun atmosphere. We serve sophisticated dishes in an unpretentious manner. If you are a diner looking for a traditional dining experience, there are lots of other great restaurants on island, come in for a drink and we'll recommend a few.Live well and be happy!

“The Best Honeymoon Dinner, EVER!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012 via mobile

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Fatty Crab tonight, on our honeymoon, and the food and staff were so impressive that we felt like we needed to immediately write a review! We've been on St. John for about 3 nights now, and this is the best meal so far...the menu is perfect for foodies (or people like us who just like to think that we are). The meal was $84 and included 3 cocktails, an appetizer, a second appetizer, a shared main course, and a dessert. We had the Tuna appetizer, the crab fritters (best on the island!), the fatty duck, and the tempura banana dessert w/ a sweetened condensed milk glaze...it was the least expensive and most delicious meal we've had in our 4 days of marriage! I can't give this place enough praise, except to say that we're only on the island for 7 days, and we plan to eat at Fatty Crab twice!

PS: The Recession Special (Beer/whisky/pickle chaser) was a surprisingly outstanding choice.

“an incredible and memorable meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012 via mobile

my husband and I are on our honeymoon and just got in to st. john tonight. we hit up tripadvisor to familiarize ourselves with a few places that were well reviewed in the area, which brought us to Fatty Crab. It did not disappoint. the combinations of ingredients here are so much different than anything we have ever eaten, but so flavorful and definitely worth the experience. Be forewarned that the portions of some things are small, but what it lacks in quantity it does make up for in quality. Everything we had was unique, unexpected and mouthwatering. the restaurant is open air, and with that comes Mosquitos that think I am candy and leave him alone. I was bit a few times but it wouldn't deter me from going again. the experience is different than 'normal' because it is done tapas style where food comes out as it is finished, piping hot. we just shared every dish there and it was nice to be able to taste it all, together. since the portions can be smaller, they recommended ordering about 3-4 to share. they were right on the money as we got 4 and were perfectly satiated. if we had longer than 4 more days here we would definitely consider going again, but we like to experience something new each time we eat! hope this helps!

“Not worth a return visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The food wasn't bad, but it is not food that the body has an easy time digesting either. I would not return there. Usually I have a hard time deciding between which dish I want. Here, I had a hard time choosing which dish I wanted to select.

“Life changing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012 via mobile

We ended up at the Fatty Crab by mistake, but we were pleasantly surprised to receive a phenomenal meal with equally superior service. The flavors were unique and delightful; the food made with local ingredients, including Josephine's greens and homemade srichacha sauce. For dessert, we had the coconut panacotta made with rose water... It was literally life-changing. Highly recommend!

“Eclectic and lovely!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

Lovely staff, who are extremely customer oriented! They ask about food allergies during your initial sit down! The coconut rice was perfectly sweetened but not over done! The shrimp were jumbo and had just the right amount of fried coating over them! The brisket was simply amazing with toasted buns and pickled onions! Over all a great meal with some different options!
