“The ocean is better than Ambien!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2012

Considering you can pay more than double at the Westin around the bay without even so much as a view of the sea at the opening rate, this is a true gem. Who needs daily maid service and a sleep number bed if you can have an oceanfront studio with fridge, etc and a great porch... so close to the water you can wink at the fish. The crashing waves on the beach at night are the most soothing sound EVER. Even better, the recommendations that Frank gave us for our day trips were spot on and made our weekend pefect. We have been to St John before, and Franks recommendations made this by far our best trip. I almost didn't want to write this review so I could keep this place a secret.

The only real thing to do on site is lounge on the porch and read and listen to the ocean sounds - the beach is rocky, but the location is perfectly placed so you can walk into town for drinks and dinner and slither home to bed after many fruity cocktails.

Save the money you would spend on Caneel or Westin and definitely rent a jeep and get out and about and SEE this glorious island and stay at Coconut Coast! Don't just sit at a resort on the beach. You can go to cheaper islands like a Jamaican all-inclusive if that is all you want to do. In St John you want to hike, snorkel, dive and eat at great local restaurants.

Room Tip: I don't think any of the rooms are bad - they all have great balconies on the beach.

Frank and Mickey are amazing hosts. They are both extremely knowledgeable about St. John including places to eat, play and just plain relax. From the minute you arrive at Coconut Coast Villas you do feel like you've never left home. The rooms are clean, comfortable and up to date. Our room faced the ocean and we had an amazing view with the relaxing sounds of the waves to lull us to sleep. The location of the hotel is convenient to Cruz Bay being about a 7 minute walk to the ferry / taxi area and all of the local restuarants. For an amazing sunset we suggest ZoZo's bar or Spyglass. Next time we stay in St. John we would definitely stay with Frank and Mickey at Coconut Coast Villas and so should you!

Just got back from our 5 day stay at Coconut Coast Villas. All the other reviews are on target. I am not an easily pleased customer but we loved this place. Mickey and Frank are wonderful people. Their genuine warmth and willingness to share information made you feel welcome and the stay easy. They went waaaay beyond the call of duty to help me out with several binds saying "it's the St. John way". Am not sure of that but it was their way for sure. The hotel is right on the water's edge. Having a spectacular view and the sound of the waves was extraordinary. The convenience of being walking distance to town, having a kitchen and access to beach chairs, etc. was great. The location made it feel like you were right where people actually live. My original regret was that the beach at the hotel is rocky and not suitable for swimming. However, there is a beach (Frank Bay) nearby which was never crowded. This beach was not spectacular like some of the others, but you could walk there in 3 minutes and not need wheels to get there. This walk, on a junglelike path, was a treat in itself. We took several trips to other beaches and only spent one day at Frank Bay. I now regret it because the convenience of it's location made it the most relaxed day we had there. There is a flock of peacocks who live in the neighborhood too! For those who like to swim in a pool, be forewarned, the pool is tiny. There is, however, a hot tub which is a nice feature. The rooms are clean but you are responsible for your own housekeeping while there unless you pay extra. They also make washing machines available for you to use if you want to. The experience here was relaxed, easy, and felt very natural - like you just belonged there. I have no hesitation is strongly recommending this hotel. Do not look further - this is it!

My girlfriend and I visited St. John's for the first time at the beginning of the new year (2012) and our stay there was amazing; mainly because of our stay at Coconut Coast Villas. Frank and Mickey went out of their way to make us feel at home. As a matter of fact, Frank greeted us with "welcome home" when we arrived and even took our luggage in for us. It is the personal touches there that made the difference and I would stay there again in a heartbeat. We went to bed every night with the sound of the waves crashing against the surf right outside our balcony and awoke to a sunrise over the ocean. The walk to the nearest beach is like a nature hike which we thoroughly enjoyed. The main strip in the town is only a few minutes walk away. The kitchenette is a nice benefit and we were able to save money by eating at least one meal in our place. Our only regret is not spending an entire day just hanging around the villa. The room was very clean and Frank and Mickey were a wealth of information about the island. They even had extra insect repellant and sunscreen in their office for their guests. I cannot think of a negative thing to say about our stay there. I would recommend this place to anybody going to St. John. It is quiet, clean, relaxing, conveniently located, well-priced, and a joy to experience. Erik

My wife and I just returned from a week long stay at the Coconut Coast villas in St. John and could not have been more pleased with our stay! When we last visited the Virgin Islands we stayed at the Westin for our honeymoon and loved our stay, however we didnt get to experience the island as much as we would have liked, so upon our return we stayed here and absolutely loved it. The owners (Frank and Mickey) could not have been kinder or more helpful. We had actually planned to come here in 2010 but got snowed in during a blizzard and couldnt get to the island, Frank and Mickey worked with us to reschedule our trip and we didnt lose a dime. They are the epitome of great people running a great family place. If you are going to St. John, you have to strongly consider starying here and experiencing all the island has to offer! Cant say enough great things about Coconut Coast Villas! Looking forward to coming back soon!

A group of old friends rented a 3BR/3BA unit while we were on St. John for another friend's wedding. Coconut Coast was great! All the very clean rooms have ocean views and balconies. We could do our own cooking as needed, which is helpful since food can be pricey. It's a short walk to Cruz Bay so you have the convenience of being near town without the noise and congestion. Mickey & Frank are absolutely the best vacation rental property managers I've ever encountered. They are the equivalent of having a personal concierge due to their extensive knowledge of restaurants, snorkeling spots, and ferry schedules. On our last day, when we mixed up our departure time and were going to miss our ferry (and therefore our plane), they gave us a ride into town in the driving rain, and even made an unexpected stop at the snorkeling shop so we could pay our tab. I only hope we are able to return!

Room Tip: It seems there are no bad rooms - every one has a balcony and ocean view.

My husband and I were married on St. John in early November 2011. We had all of our family members stay at Coconut Coast. It is a great place to stay near Cruz Bay. The location is perfect, the managers, Frank & Mickey, are fantastic and the price is reasonable. The rooms all have an ocean view and are clean and cute. My husband and I choose to stay in another location, a short distance away to have some privacy, but we like the rooms at Coconut Coast better than where we stayed and were jealous of our guests! I am so happy and thankful that I found this place and booked the rooms for my family to stay here for our wedding. There was nothing that was not great about this place!
