After visiting St John 8 times in the last 4 years, including having our wedding (with 35 guests) come...and staying at the St John Inn once ourselves and friends multiple times, we figured it was time to go back.

I wrote 3 emails over a month and each time waited for a response, i called 4 times over the same month and left messages and never got anyone on the phone, and never received a call back. My messages were "We want to stay these 3 days, please call me back to take my credit card".

Finally - a month later, i get an email back again stating that my dates ARE available (again)

I pick up the phone not 5 minutes after receiving the email, call and they pick up...

lo and behold, my dates are reserved and my wife and I are out of luck. I begged for referral or some sort of help and they said they couldn't help me. What a disappointment and waste of my Jeep reservation and plans...

The St John Inn in Cruz Bay needs to stop making reservations based on when they happen to answer the phone, and start keeping track of requests at a minimum, if not allowing online or telephone bookings.

People will stop referring guests to them...I guess my combined 20 nights of stay mean nothing to them.

My stay at the St. John Inn was great. I liked the small atmosphere and felt at home. I appreciated the friendly housekeepers and the great advice about touring the island that I got from the manager. They also have a large deck with a small pool, which is nice when you get back from a long day in the sun.
I would recommend staying at the St. John Inn!

I just got back from a four day stay at the St John Inn...to sum it up in one word...NIGHTMARE!!! It is nothing like their website. I had nothing but problems from the moment I made reservations to the time I left the Inn. For starters they got my reservation dates mixed up and never sent me a confirmation letter ( they insisted they did ). Once I arrived they informed me I had to change rooms in mid stay due to their error. Which I did not mind because the first room was so cramped and mosquito infested, I was glad to leave. My second room was a little better but was right across from the utility closet! The sounds of slamming doors was not my idea of a wake up call. Over all the rooms were in desparate need of repair. Two of my windows had no screens and allowed tons of mosquitos in. I was told I had a room with a kitchenette, but yet I had no glasses, plates, spoons or even a can opener. A microwave and coffee maker do not count as being a kitchenette. The bed we had was in such poor shape I spent my last too nights on the couch. To top it all off during our last night the bed room flooded wall to wall. I talked to the manager and she told me it was because they over filled the cisterns and our entire building flooded. No appology no nothing. The Inn was overpriced and understaffed. Needless to say I was very happy to leave the St John Inn.

St john is such a beautiful island and they're many wonderful places to stay the St John inn was not one of them!

Stayed at this location back in 2001. We loved the owners and found the service great. Rooms are decorated with armoires and comfy beds. Don't expect great ocean views but the deck is a great place for an evening drink or morning coffee.

Our latest visit in Feb 2005 was a little depressing, seems the previous owners have sold the property. The service has dropped to nearly non-existant and there is very little parking as the new owner has her SUV and boat parked in the only available spots. She made us feel like we were intruding upon her when the water in all of the rooms ceased to work. All of the guests commented about . Too bad, this used to be one of our favorite inns. I would not reccomend a lengthy stay.
