“Nice place good service and good food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014 NEW

Went while on vaca in St. John's. Order the appetizer that is cooked by you on heated salt rock and comes with steak, shrimp and tuna. Sounds gimmicky by trut me worth the 12 bucks per person. Had the jambalaya which was good and filled with shrimp, chicken and 2 kinds of sausage. Others had tuna tartar which was great. Kids meal was chicken and fries and was good. Fish and chips were also great.

“Great Atmosphere, Great Service, Great Food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2014 NEW

This is one of the newest dining establishments in Mongoose Junction, and is one you should not miss if visiting St. John. Open for dinner hours, the sunset timing adds to the mystique of the décor and location, which has balcony dining that provides views of Cruz Bay. Inside seating, with the great open arches, also allow you the outdoor experience, with a warm intimacy. Live music was playing the 2 nights that we dined here, and included a jazz duo one night and some country swing the next. Looking at the schedule, it appears that all styles of live music flow thru this venue. On our first visit, we made our way through the appetizer section, as they contained all our favorites, but with a twist. The Fried Artichokes, unique Springs Rolls with the chili mango sauce, and Flatbread (changes daily) were excellent. The options were diverse, and I suggest viewing the menu online to see the seafood options, which we did not have time to get to. We both had the Roasted Garlic Caesar Salad and were pleased, as it was cold, crispy, and the dressing was very unusual and delicious. The most unusual and tasty treat was the Himalayan Salt Block, which is a 500 degree heated salt block mined from Nepal, upon which you grill your own yellow fin tuna, angus steak slices, and jumbo shrimp, then you dunk them in a choice of 3 sauces....it was divine. The entrees we enjoyed included the Wicked Penne Pasta (has a kick and is great), Fish and Chips ( a step above the usual!), and Marinated Grilled Eggplant with a side of calypso rice.

We recommend you check out their website and view all the Virgin Fire has to offer. (They show movies on certain nights as well!) We had an excellent (2x) dining experience and know that you will as well.

Negatives: We did receive a bottle of wine that apparently had a dry cork. It did not taste right. We brought it to the attention of the waiter, who immediately replaced it with a new one, and it was just perfect. We were pleased with the responsiveness of the waiter and management in resolving our concerns.

Note: I am related to the owner of this restaurant through marriage. However I live by the philosophy that if you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all. If I had not enjoyed our time at Virgin Fire, I would have been silent, and not provided a review.

“Great service and food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2014

My husband and I dined at Virgin Fire while visiting St. John. We only ordered a few appetizers but they were delicious. The drinks were very tasty as well, and came from a friendly waitress. The music was relaxing to listen to as we overlooked the streets of St. John.

“New&Awesome!!!!”

Great service, stellar food, unique and not quite like the other restaurants here. The Salt Block at 500 degrees is such a great way to enjoy shrimp, tuna, steak:-)!!! Will go back for sure...

Picture it: Friday afternoon, 4:00pm

After a long week, we ended up at the bar at Virgin Fire. KC, our bar tender was quick with the wit, and the drinks.

My husband and I love to cook. As a result, we order things we would not normally make at home. Also a result of cooking amazing food at home, we're picky as hell when we go out.

We gingerly dipped our crispy, crunchy, Cajun fries in gorgonzola sauce and instantly ceased all forms of communication, (and breathing), as we inhaled the entire order.

Next, as my husband took the last coconut prawn and headed toward the spicy mango dipping sauce, I considered the consequences of stabbing him in the hand with my skewer and running away with his shrimp. It was his birthday, so I refrained.

I will order the salt block every single time we go to Virgin Fire.

Finally whoever made the "soup of the day," which was chili, deserves a Nobel Peace Prize.

Delicious food, reasonable prices, especially during happy hour! If you are in St. John, you simply must eat at Virgin Fire!
