“Beautiful landscaping on the property but not a very good view of the harbor from your room.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

The room we stayed in was the new addition of the Coral Vista. It of course was very modern and tastefully decorated. The problem is it was very small for a two bedroom timeshare unit at approximately 1000 square feet. If you are used to a hotel room then this would be great. They do have larger units you may want to look into. The beach and pool are very nice, however I don't understand why they don't have small tables in between the lounge chairs at the pool. The 10 million dollar renovation was good. You can take paddle boards and kayaks out as a guest as well as cool lounging rafts for the ocean or pool.

Th staff running the shuttles and the bell boys were especially nice. We really liked Julian, our island tour guide. He is a native of St John and has several good stories to tell about the island and its flora. The tour is $25 per person.

We did find the servers and the personnel at the bar were not very friendly and seemed to be on the defensive. You may want to get some people that will have fun and interact with the guests more.

If you spend time on your deck the golf carts can be quite noisy running back-and-forth in the evening. The management may want to limit the number of golf carts by around 10 o'clock at night to eliminate some of the noise. It appears to be more staff and management in the Golf carts in the evening than guests being transported back-and-forth to their units.

Overall the grounds on the property were beautiful and the units were very nice even though they are small.

Room Tip: If you want a view you should choose the hilltop units, and if you want to be closer to the pool you...

This property is amazing! The beach is your front yard. They had so many fun activities - scavenger hunts, bingo, soda bobbing, name that tune, beer tasting, cocktail making, etc. The FUN team was incredible. Ben(red headed barrel of fun), Shay(so sweet and fun), Michelle (kind and kool), Kohun (donut), Shaynell (bingo babe), and many more. The rooms in the Coral Vista villa were brand new and gorgeous! Views of the ocean from bed! Lots of room for a family. Love the dining booth. Plenty of room for a family dinner or card games.
The two downsides I found was so much turtle grass as you swam to the fun water toys - floating trampoline, climbing pyramid, and HUGE inflated slide. And the cost of the Westin ferry. Their private dock was being rebuilt so you were shuttled by open truck taxis often like cattle. Many issues with luggage. And severely overpriced for the service you received. I would recommend the public ferry until the Westin private dock is finished.
The restaurant Snorkels was a toes in the sand dining - my favorite. If you were lucky enough to get Rosenei you would get great friendly wonderful service. (I've never been hugged by a waitress when seen we were leaving). Timmica was nice also. Some of the others had too much lemonade for lunch. The food is expensive $19 but the mahi mahi tacos had 3 on the plate - great for sharing. The chicken tenders were great too, but you never knew if you would get enough to share. Servings were inconsistent from 4 - 8 and everywhere in between. The Lemongrass restaurant had a wonderful breakfast buffet, but I could only find 1 itme on the dinner menu that I would eat and it was super expensive. They need a more realistic dinner menu.
The front desk was great! Akima was wonderful! I can't say enough about her. Thank you!!! We had lots of issues with changing rooms and room keys not working, but it was all handled with a smile. Roy found my ipad I left behind in one of the rooms and I can't thank him enough for tracking me down and returning it! Jeffrey was one of the shuttle drivers that went out of his way to make this stay extra special. He took a personal interest in my family and helped us celebrate a special day. Thank you!! Neil was also a shuttle driver that make us laugh and enjoy every minute in his cart. Thank you for everything!! The shuttle were extremely necessary because we were staying at the top of a HUGE hill for a lot of our stay. They were usually very quick, but once in a while they were understaffed and overworked.
It was great to be able to hop aboard a boat and go on a picnic snorkel directly from the hotel shore. The Cruz Bay watersports people were amazing. Thank you Kelsey for an amazing time!
A vacation is what you make it, and these people helped make this one especially fun! I highly recommend this resort!

Hotel was very nice , but they are in process of converting to timeshares,so a lot construction and noise during day. The beach at hotel was not great ,however pool was awesome. Too many beautiful beaches on St. John to swim at hotel. very nice staff and we like the open air restaurant very much!

My wife and I stayed in the hotel portion (a.k.a. poolside rooms) for 4 nights. Our stay was enjoyable and didn't have any issues as some of the other guests have mentioned in other posts. Our only complaint about our stay was that we paid way too much for a hotel room. The room is very basic. However, the resort as a whole is beautiful and and the customer service was excellent. The beach is a waste of time at this resort because the island offers some the most beautiful beaches in the world. Don't bother with the Westin Beach. Overall, if you are a person that likes to stay at the resort and never explore what the region has to offer, the Westin is a good value, but if you a person that likes to explore the region and spend little time at the resort then the Westin is overpriced.

Tips:
RENT A JEEP. Jeep rental is available at the Westin behind the tennis courts and is very comparable to other rates in town. Driving on the left is not as intimidating as you would think.

EAT AT CANDI'S BBQ. Best food on the island. Located just down the road towards Cruz Bay from the Westin.

SAIL ON THE ISLAND SPIRIT. Best part of our vacation. Book through Cruz Bay Watersports.

WESTIN FERRY IS VERY CONVENIENT but is pricey compared to the public ferry. However, the Westin handles all luggage and can be a life saver if your departure flight is a late afternoon (after checkout)

I attended my brother-in-law's destination wedding here and it was perfect. The staff was wonderful, and the resort was pristine. Only negatives was the price of food at resort restaurants but that was expected from earlier reviews. There is a nice grocery shop right outside the front gate and we ended up having fun cookouts a couple nights.

I also think this is a great place for kids. I have a one year old son and he loved the beach and the pool. He especially loved the Iguanas and cats that roam the property.

The staff was very friendly, especially the guys who drive you around on golf carts. There are always taxis lined up outside willing to take you where you need to go on the island (for $8/person per ride).

Would recommend this hotel to anyone. Not sure what anyone could have against the place.

My husband and I stayed at the Westin for part of our trip to beautiful St. John. We used Starwood Points for the rooms which is the only reason we stayed at this property. With the room prices, I would expect far better accommodations and service. The service at this hotel was particularly poor; our room was not ready when promised and the staff acted as though we were bothering them.

This may be a nice place for families as the pool area is very nice. The 'beach' on the hotel property was not very nice and not worth visiting.
