“Great view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

Ha. I read all the reviews so I was prepped for when we finally decided to do this trail during the course of our week stay. Or so I thought. My wife decided we should just do the hike after we had lunch at the Tourist Trap fearing we wouldn't be in the area again(she hadn't read the reviews). So we trudged up the trail with our 3 and 6 year olds in flip flops, with little water, in the middle of the day with nary a cloud in the sky. Long story short, we made it. The view was spectacular. The trail reminiscent of Phoenix (if you didn't look up at the water or listen for the waves), rocky and cactus filled. All in all, had we been properly prepped, this trail would have been easy. As it was, we made it a little difficult on ourselves. Ram Head gives you a great view, well worth the little effort needed. I will add that I was very appreciative of the man selling water at the entrance at the road.

“Sweet Manageable Hike”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

This hike was easy and scenic. It started at the Concordia Eco Lodges and goes past the Salt Pond and the Salt Pond Bay Beach. It then curves into another beach that is full of pebbles and petrified coral and ascends slightly onto the hill that ultimately leads to Ram’s Head. It’s only about a mile long, and I did it without any difficulty being 6-months pregnant. Before getting to the top there are a few cool, though windy, spots where the cliffs drop off into the water offering a great view of the bay and the neighboring islands. At the top, you can see for miles. It is scenic, peaceful and beautiful and I was lucky that my husband and I were the only people there when we arrived. While this is a popular hike, you’ll never encounter more than a dozen or so people along the trail. This hike is wonderful during the sunrise and sunset, but you’ll need to have flashlights as it’s rocky with lots of curves along the path.

“Ram Head Trail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

We had a great day hiking the Ram Head Trail and then coming back to Salt Pond Bay, which is a beautiful beach with some very nice snorkeling. Parents with young children should keep them close on the trial, especially at the higher elevations. Amazing views all along the way with the best at the top of the trail. And yes, starting early is a good idea. A lot of the trail is expossed to the sun and it can get hot.

“This hike has it all!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

Start early and hike up to Ram Head. Enjoy the scenery along the way, then enjoy looking out from the southern-most point on the island. When you're tired of looking at the beautiful views, hike back down to Blue Cobblestone Beach and cool off with a great snorkel. Once you've tired of that great beach, hike back a little more and stop at Salt Pond Bay. Snorkel some more. Then relax on the sandy beach. When you're ready to move again, be sure to hike the short trail to Drunk Bay (enjoying the birdwatching at the salt pond until you get to the bay) where you'll laugh at the "coral art" tucked in every nook and cranny in the rocks. Bring your lunch and water...and don't forget your snorkel gear!

“The best hike on St. John?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

The event coordinator at Maho Bay Camps called this the best hike on St. John. I can't say for certainty that it is, but it was a great hike. Lots of different terrains and great views. Be sure to check out Drunk Bay and the Coral People sculptures, and the bird life at the salt pond.
