“Great atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2009

We came into town a few times when in St. John this past week, and this place was our favorite by far! The menu is Caribbean with some Thai flavors, with great specials. Rhumb Lines is not on the beach but is on an outdoor patio with plants and ambient lighting. Key lime pie was delicious, as were both our meals. Good wine menu, for wine lovers. Wear bug spray if there's been rain--although--they do have some for sharing. We tried to go back again but they were closed for a private party:( We'll be back!

“One of our favorites - turn menu over for small Pu-Pu Platters”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2009

We were first introduced to this place two years ago by a real nice couple from MN we ran into at the "Visitor's Booth" downtown. They urged us to order up a bunch of the "Pu-Pu" offerings showing on the back side of the menu. And boy were they right. They have everything from coconut shrimp to quesadillas to spring rolls and many, many other finger food type things that are all delicious and served, each one, with your choice of dipping sauces. Then they have peanut seshuan (sp) noodles and a few other offerings to go with.. We love it here in the enclosed open air, laid back atmosphere of Rhumb Lines and hope to someday go there again.

“Check your bill closely!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2009

We had a "so so" dinner the first week in Feb 2009. Atmostphere was very nice, but food was just average. When they brought the bill, the total was $191 (I had figured it would be around $120.) I quesioned the waitress and she took it and returned with a corrected bill for $122. Wow what a difference! So make sure to check your bill here for accuracy.

“Not my favorite!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2009

We were expecting so much more. We had 7:00 reservations. Upon arrival, we were given a table by the convenience store entrance. We requested a better table, but the very distant and cold hostess told us they had several large groups coming in and she had no better table available. Several couples came in after us and were seated in the area we requested. We were seated at wood slate table with folding wood slate chairs. We were given seat cushions like everyone else after we requested them. We were waited on by the hostess, the waitress and some man who I took to be a manager or owner. All were very aloof and really didn't seem interested in us. They never asked us how we liked our food. The food was mediocre at best. I'm not a Thai expert, but was not impressed. We ordered the "special" "ultimate" pad thai with chicken, steak and shrimp. The entree probably had a cup of meat in the whole dish. We had loved ZoZo's and Morgan's Mango Restaurant. Maybe that is why we were so let down by this restaurant.

“You have to know it's there...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2008

As someone mentioned, the entrance is kind of strange...you almost have to know the restaurant is there (or ask someone). You don't just stumble across it walking down the street.

We ate there one night while in St. John. Based on that experience, I would highly recommend it. We shared a bottle of wine and a salad (Asian chicken salad, if I remember correctly), which was excellent. The meals were also very good, and the prices were reasonable for the quality of the food, service and atmosphere. We went there after 9 p.m. and they weren't super busy, so it was really nice. Compared to another restaurant we went to on a different night (wish I knew the name off the top of my head), this was fantastic!!! The other place was extremely overpriced, crowded, and noisy.

I recommend while in St. John you make a stop at Rhumb Lines for a meal!
