“Delicious Italian”

The best pizza on St. John! Nice atmosphere - small and cozy with great service. Also good for take out. Garlic toast with gorgonzola and artichoke hearts appetizer is absolutely delicious.

“Surprised based on the reviews”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

We chose this restaurant based on the reviews - maybe we are spoiled with great Italian food or the restaurant had an off night, but it was not very good. There doesn't seem to be any organization when you walk into the resaturant - seat yourself or not?? I finally had to ask for menus and a drink after 15 minutes at a table. I'm pretty laid back regarding service on St. John but when you see others who came in after you getting served, it can get pretty irksome. We ordered the calamari, shrimp appetizer - it was basically tasteless. Then I ordered the veal marsala and my husband ordered a seafood pasta. I received chicken instead of veal but by then I was too hungry to bother complaining and given the quality of the dishes, chicken may have been a better option anyway. The shrimp were good in husband's meal but the sauce was bland. They need to amp up the garlic quotient that's for sure. On the positive side the price for a bottle of wine was ver reasonable.

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

My favorite place to eat on the islands and probably the only good dining experience I had on St John. The food and service is on par with or above what you would expect in a nice restaurant in a major city. I'm not usually so much a salad guy, but the had local greens and it was AMAZING! Service knew right when to check on us and they where friendly without overdoing it. Its upstairs and the view doesn't seem like much at first but watching the nightlife of Coral bay unfold under us proved entertaining. Love this place!

“What a great surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

We gave Cafe Roma a try and we loved the food and service. My wife had the lasagna and I had spicy cream based dish that was wonderful. We split a salad which was fresh and tasty. We sampled a few of the wines which they were happy to do and we found a few excellent options. We also dined at zozo's a few nights earlier and we found the food at Cafe Roma to have better taste and service. Overall, if you take a look at Cafe Roma, give it a try and you will not be disappointed.

“Large Portions, but not Special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

We wanted to take the ferry from Red Hook and check out Cruz Bay one evening so we stopped by the Cafe Roma. It is a short walk from the ferry (everything is a short walk in Cruz Bay). The restaurant is upstairs and cute and cozy. The service was friendly and efficient. The four of us had the pasta dishes, which we all found to be a little overdone. The portions were extremely generous, so you might end up with lunch the next day also. If you are evening tripping, be aware that the ferry from/to Red Hook runs on the hour so plan your meal accordingly. This was our only food experience in Cruz Bay so I do not have another comparison point, but I would give another place a try next time.
