“The best of everything!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

This lovely B and B is an excellent example of high quality and individuality. The important aspects of food, accommodation and service are of five star luxury, but with the added bonus of being provided within a cosy friendly and down to earth environment. The other reviews have highlighted the excellence of the accommodation, the food, the warm welcome from the hosts, etc., and I fully endorse all the positive comments. There's not much I can add except that this place fully deserves it's glowing reviews. If you are looking for a warm welcome, good food, a clean and comfortable room, and the feeling of being in a real community. . . Forget your premier inns and your travelodges. . .look no further. . .this is the ONLY place to stay in this area.

What a find this place was! Comfortable, tastefully decorated and fitted out and an excellent fresh breakfast served with a smile. Great views too. I had room 4 which had a good size double bed and a set of bunk beds. Another trip advisor gem!

The accommodation was excellent . Spotless, spacious and generously equipped. Spectacular views from the terrace bar. The ginger beer brewed on the premises by the hosts was an unexpected bonus. The hosts , and locals who used the bar , could not have been more friendly and welcoming. The breakfast menu was better than any hotel we have previously stayed in (Marriot, Park Plaza , Hilton, Mercure).
I have no doubt that should we ever return to the area we will definitely stay here again.

I don't stay in bed & breakfast often but was forced to do so as there were none of the main hotel chains available. I used trip advisor to find this hotel and am glad I did. It does not look very appealing from outside and has little kerb appeal but don't let this put you off. The owners are very friendly and the rooms and establishment is spotless. The food is excellent and good value and there is a very extensive menu. I was working in the area at the Civic Centre and the locals had nothing but good praise for this venue. The poached eggs in the morning were probably the best I've ever had! If you want striking distance of Brecon and Cardiff then it's well placed for walkers and cyclists. I will certainly return.

We had the fortune to visit this picturesque part of Wales in what appeared to be monsoon season on a weekend that was, even for Merthyr, incredibly damp. Keeping a six year old entertained on a 4 hour car journey is hard enough but doing it in a smothering blanket of grey takes superhuman levels of patience so we were really hoping for a hidden gem of a hotel to relax briefly in - and we were not disappointed.

The family room we stayed in was lovely: bunk beds for the kids, a very nice en-suite bathrooom and a spacious double bedroom for us - it was a bit like having two rooms for the price of one. The bathroom was finished to a high standard (though no shower, which is about the only criticism I could dream up) as was the rest of the room. Breakfast the next day was fantastic too: perfectly poached eggs, bacon, pancakes and plenty more on offer. Everyone was very friendly and recommended places to go in the local area. Fantastic place and look forward to returning perhaps in the summer, when it should only rain half as much!
