“So peaceful!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I stayed at Point Pleasant from 12/26/14 to 1/2/15 and really enjoyed it. The staff at the resort is a wonderful group of people. Aaron and Charlie were especially nice! The shuttle service is a nice benefit here, as the taxi situation on the island is a total scam. You can get to Red Hook quickly for restaurants/bars and the ferry, or a trip to the grocery store, or to go snorkeling at local beaches, all using the Point Pleasant shuttle service. When you call for a pick-up off the property, your ride is there to collect fairly quickly too!

I ate several times at Panga, the restaurant on the property overlooking the water below the lower pool. I believe it's separately owned from the hotel, but I found it convenient (though a tad over priced) and the food was quite good. Austin the bartender is fabulously friendly, and provides better service than anyone else at the restaurant.

As for the E2 room itself, here are some recommendations and comments:
1) Bring your own pillow, unless you prefer lumpy ones.
2) Bring your own beach towel. The first three days I was unable to loan one from the front desk because they were all gone. It seemed the demand was greater than supply for beach towels. But a bath towel worked just fine for me in a pinch.
3) The toilet in this particular unit could use a good hard scrubbing.
4) The air conditioner runs on a 6 hour timer that you have to keep winding back up, but I did not find that the room got hot when the AC cut off overnight.
5) The view was wonderful, but I truly don't believe the view is bad from anywhere on the resort property. be sure you go to the different pools and see how the view is different. all of them are beautiful though.
6) Cleaning service is not included in your room rate. You can have your sheets changed for a fee, but it seems to me that if one is paying for 7 nights, at least one sheet change would be included. They will bring you fresh towels on request for no fee, however.
7) Be sure you bring plenty of sun screen; it will cost you $17 US to buy some in the lobby. I thought I was going to run out and thought I'd pick some up at the resort, until the price tag sent me into cardiac arrest.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Point Pleasant, and would recommend it to anyone looking to have a relaxing getaway with great weather, nice people, in a relaxing environment.

Kudos to the resort staff - fantastic friendly service.

There were 3 of us - my husband and I and my best friend who was celebrating her birthday. The unit would be fine for two couples or a family of 4-6 (there is a rollaway bed). We were blessed with beautiful weather for our entire stay.

The Point Pleasant resort is made up of multiple buildings, each with a few lodging units in them, which we prefer to a single large building. It is also situated on a hillside, so the buildings have visual separation, enhancing the sense of privacy and quiet. Perhaps this was because of the way our particular unit (D37) was situated within the resort - we will certainly ask for the same unit next time. It was in the uppermost "hilltop" area of the resort, and the views were spectacular. There was a unit above us, which provided much appreciated shade on the patio/balcony. (Our building had 3 units stacked on top of each other, and we were in the middle one. The upper unit would not have had the overhang providing this shade) The patio wrapped around the entire front of the unit, and was furnished with a dining table and 4 chairs as well as 2 chaises - we spent most of our time outside. Our unit faced north, so we didn't have direct sun on the balcony at any time of the day, keeping the unit cool. We didn't turn on the air conditioner, preferring to let the gentle breezes in. We enjoyed eating and reading out on the patio, and watching the pelicans fish and the boats come and go in the bay below. The resort staff was wonderful, and was always ready to come to our unit at the very top of the hill and give us a ride down if we didn't want to walk.

We were only here for four days, so didn't rent a car, and didn't really need one. The resort staff gave us rides to town for groceries, a ride over to Coki Beach for snorkeling (although it was so close we walked back) and a ride to the ferry to St. John. We spent the rest of our time gazing out from our spacious balcony, at the small beach, or at one of the 3 pools. We have visited the BVIs previously on a sailboat, so didn't feel the need to take a day sail, although we would have done if we had more time here.

The kitchen was small and had all the basics we needed to prepare simple meals. The beds were comfortable and each bath was a comfortable size. The entire unit felt quite spacious, as the design was quite open. The wireless WiFi worked great.

One of the best vacations my wife & I have ever had. Great location with easy access and short drives to Red Hook & Magen's Bay. Though the resort offered free shuttle service to either location, we did rent a car. Be aware, that they do drive on the left and the cars are left hand drive. Roads are narrow, windy and steep so it may not be in everyone's comfort zone when combined with the those unaccustomed to driving on the left. The location was beautiful with views toward St John and Tortolla, BVI. Staff was friendly and helpful. Property was well maintained. Red Hook, which is a 5 or at most, 10 minute drive, has lots of great, casual, pub-style dining with a fun atmosphere. In-room wi-fi worked great. Would strongly recommend Point Pleasant and will likely return again next year.

Room Tip: We looked for units that were closest to the water with a clear view of the ocean.

I went with a few girlfriends for a birthday celebration. I booked this Resort after doing research and decided to trust the reviews of previous travelers. I couldn't be happier with that decision! We stayed in one of the villas that had the most incredible views. The villa was clean, spacious, air conditioned, full kitchen, etc etc... everything you need. The staff were SO incredibly accommodating and went out of their way for us.

The location is perfect, about 25 minutes from airport and 5-10 minutes to Red Hook and many of the must-see beaches. I have pictures and further review up on my blog, misslifestyler.com.

Thank you Point Pleasant for an incredible St. Thomas experience!

Justine and Lynn,

Thank you so much for the terrific review. Aaron and Anthony are unique individuals who simply love to provide great customer service. We love having them as part of our team. They even entertain us. :)

I think you got all the names of restaurants correct except the nice restaurant at the Marriott which is called Havana Blue.

I also was confused by your comment about cash for drivers. You didn't mean our shuttle drivers did you? While tips are appreciated, they are not required. (We pay them well)

Thanks again, we hope to see you soon,

Jeff

What a great place to stay. We had never been to St Thomas and didn't have a clue of where to stay. My sister found you on trip advisor, and because of the great reviews we chose Pt Pleasant. What a great choice. We fell in love with Patsy, Willie and Charlie, they took us everywhere....they are the best shuttle drivers. We loved the spa, thanks Beverly and all the girls. And a special hi to Anthony. Thanks also to the great manager and his wife. We promise we will return.....thanks again...Marlene, Suzy and Sheryl unit D19.....

Situated on a steep hill overlooking the US & British Virgin Islands, this is a truly amazing place with breathtaking views. I researched a number of resorts and decided on Point Pleasant based on reviews and their excellent website where there are detailed descriptions and photos of each unit.

Due to circumstance, however, I found that the caring and resourceful staff is what actually made our stay perfect. I had reserved unit B17 online in October, a very nice one bedroom. Upon our arrival, Emma and Aaron informed us that it was under renovation and they had placed us in E2. After walking into E2, a smaller and comparatively disappointing studio, we called the office and Aaron immediately began to work on a solution. A few hours later he had us in B18 for the night, explaining that he would get us a unit for the remainder of the week on the next day. He also offered to reimburse us for one night for our inconvenience.

The following day while at the beach the staff booked us into B14 & moved our luggage for us. It was gorgeous and met all of our needs. We found ourselves spending each early morning and late evening on the large wrap-around balcony, nearly hypnotized by the amazing waterscape & islands.

A true 5+!
