“Awesome anniversary getaway at Point Pleasant/Wellness Spa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent at Point Pleasant. My husband and I went away for our 7th year anniversay and left our 4yr old and 2yr old at home for 4 nights and 5 days. It was so easy to get to and the staff was super friendly and accommodating, in fact we found everyone on the island to be the same way. We booked out trip thru expedia.com and found it to be a really good deal. Non stop flights and overnight accomodations for a total of $1200 for the 2 of us. We stayed in a one bedroom suite. Everything was very nice and our view was amazing. I think the location of this resort is perfect because it is off the beaten path but also very close to Red Hook, a nice little town where you can get groceries or choose from many delicious restaurants and an icecream shop. Also, the ferry goes out of Red Hook to St. John so it makes for some very easy day trips. We rented a scooter and this was an absolute blast! We went all over the island on it and it was a very powerful scooter so it made it up the hills and switchbacks without any problem. It was also very comfortable to ride. We took it to St. john on the car ferry one day. Another day we took the Bad Kitty charter to the BVI. We really enjoyed the nearby Secret Harbor Beach and Lindquist Beach as well. Bruce and I also received massages at the Point Wellness Spa. The owner Beverly was so kind and friendly and made you feel like you were her only guests and deserved royal treatment. Julia the massage therapist was one of the best we have ever had. The spa is beautiful and you can tell Beverly is really pouring her heart into it. We would definitely love to go back to Point Pleasant!

Room Tip: We stayed in E15 on Hilltop and we loved it! Beautiful view, clean and had everything we needed.

We did quite a bit of research in preparation for our honeymoon. We rented a Point Pleasant villa directly through the resort (Akers Ellis Management). The service we received was extraordinary.
The resort is clearly geared towards couples and we had fun getting to know the staff and many other couples staying at the resort. Our villa was beautiful and the views are to die for.

We worried about not renting car but it turned out to be great decision. They drivers at the resort are wonderful and are really fun to be with. They do stop transportation off site at 8pm but almost everyone is in Red Hook which is only 5 minutes away and getting a taxi back to the resort is easy and cheap.

We felt like we were staying with our family. Even the managers Jeff and Lori became our friends for the week and we cannot wait to see Charlie, Willie and the entire lobby staff again!
Everyone is fun and eager to spoil you.

Thank you for making our honeymoon so perfect!

I see a lot of reviews in here and it really surprises me that there are so many high ratings for this property. Other than it is right on the beach and people are so excited to be here in the Caribbean, I cant see any other reason. We stayed in 2 separate condos. By they way, these are not hotels. They are condos that someone owns and are rented out thru the front desk. The staff is great and the grounds are really nice as well. The condos are not in that good of shape though. They were built in the early 70's and the owners have not done a lot to them to keep them up. Old bedding and not much up to date items. A lot of the items don't even work. One huge problem is the air conditioners in the entire complex are on 4-6 hour twist timers. That means at 3am you are hot from the unit turning off and you have to wake up and turn on the timer again. Why not leave the windows open and enjoy the fresh air? We wanted to but both units we stayed in were too close to the ground where anyone could break in thru the sliding glass door screens that surround each room. And thievery here in the USVI is rampant and leads the nation per capita. It would be foolish to leave your place unlocked if you are on a low floor. If the owners would but some kind of latches on the screens it would work and be much safer, but most everything does not work well in the units, and this is another item as well. Another issue is that since these places stay locked up tight as a drum while no one is in them, they collect horrible humidity that leads to mold. My wife stayed sick the entire time we were in the condo and became completely well the minute we left each day. So we made sure we stayed out all the time and only came to sleep because there are clearly allergies going on in the humidity infested mattresses and ultra cheap $1 pillows that we could not even use. Had to go to the store and buy our own.
This is not a bad place to stay and the grounds and area are great. Lots of wind and not very warm because of the winds. Just ultra cheap owners that have timers on everything that matters and cookware that cant be used. I cant believe the management allows it. I used to own condo rentals in Hawaii and the management companies would not even take your condo unless it was top notch in every way. And certainly without timers on the A/C. Being cheap makes the vacation not a completely enjoyment and we certainly would not come back. There are better accommodations on St Thomas without the essence of cheap.

Room Tip: Make sure you rent a room on a high floor so you have enough security that you can leave your window...

We stayed in a top floor condo in the lower part of the resort. The views were fabulous and we loved being out on the deck (though honestly, the views are fabulous from pretty much all of the units). The place had what was essentially a full kitchen, dining area, living area and bedroom separated by louvered doors. This comfortably fit two adults and two kids. The facilities at the resort were nice, with multiple well-kept pools. The staff were very friendly, and though we did have a car, we took advantage of the shuttle service to Red Hook to catch the ferry, and this was a nice benefit. We also appreciated the welcome packet that they provided that included information on the staff's favorite places (and seemed to have actual real recommendations rather than commercial tie-ins).

We had only a few gripes. The main issue was that on the top floor of the condo, the walls didn't go to the ceiling, so if you turned on the lights in the bathroom, for example, the living room and the rest of the condo all lit up. This was a bit of a challenge with small kids who won't sleep unless it's dark in the room. The other issue is that the AC unit could stand to be upgraded, as it took about 24 hours for the room to get cool, and the fan rattled a lot unless it was set on low.

Overall, we think this is a great place, and I don't think you can find a better value on the island. I only gave 4 stars because I can't give 4.5. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The location within the resort is not terribly important, as there are pools at each level (the reso...

Thank you for an overall good review. We are working on fixing the AC in the villa. The AC units usually cool very quickly and without much noise.

We rented from a private owner but felt like a pampered guest. The staff couldn't have been nicer. My son is special needs and some of the staff went out of their way to remember his name and talk to him each time they saw him. The receptions on Mon., Wed., and Fri. We're fun and we met some new friends. Willie is great and couldn't have taken care of us any better. Yes, the resort is lacking in food, but Red Hook is a short distance away and Willie will get you there. Plus Coki Beach and Coral World are nearby.

My family stayed in a condo rented through VRBO for a week and we truly enjoyed our stay. The condo was in the building by the lower pool on the 3rd floor. We chose it because we have kids and thought we would be frequently walking to Sugar Beach and we did not want to go over the hills.
GPS does not pick up the entire address, you would need to enter Smith Bay Rd, once you're on Smith Bay, just keep going until you see the Resort sign. The resort overall is well kept and it is still work in progress. There is security staff on patrol at night. The condo itself was beautiful and you could not get enough of sitting in the balcony. During our stay we only turned the AC on two nights. The other nights we kept the doors open and the trade winds kept us cool the entire time.

The small Sugar beach by the resort would do if you don't feel like driving to other beaches. It is sandy once you pass the small rocks on the edge. If you're going to cross to St John from Red Hook, I recommended taking the 9am ferry. Red Hook is only a 5 minutes drive from the property. Also you won't go wrong with any restaurant in Red Hook.

Maybe for couples a car is not needed, but for families with kids, you definitely need a car.

Room Tip: We wound up going to other beaches a lot...Magen's Bay, Trunk Bay, Cinammon Bay so any condo tha...

We stayed for 2 fun filled weeks (11/4-11/18) at Point Pleasant and will do it again next year! The grounds were beautiful and the staff amazing. We rented a car so didn't take advantage of the free shuttle but once, and really enjoyed it when I did. Pangas on the water was revising their menu at the time (understandable to do this before the High season starts) so the food menu was limited but they had a delicious jalapeno/cucumber drink and my 9yr old had a blast fishing right there off the deck. the beach was set up had you thinking nap, but the free snorkel gear and a 9yr old prevented it. We had a slight issue in our place and they bent over backwards to resolve it even though I rented direct from the owner. The view from our condo was amazing and the bed was very comfortable after a long day of playing, perfect size for our family of 3 and had everything we needed plus some. The pools were clean, refreshing and mostly all to ourselves. Thank You to All the staff for making this such a fun and definitely memorable vacation!!
