Breathtaking views from the room, bar and restaurant were outstanding. The staff were fabulous and really welcomed us with their friendly manner and prompt attention. We loved the informal and casual atmosphere around the pool and impeccable service in the restaurant. The bar was a favourite place for cocktails where you can look down onto the bay and out to other islands watching the landscape change as the sun went down.The food was also very good and very reasonably priced. This quaint hotel tucked in the side of the mountain offered one of the most amazing views of the harbour and landscape I have ever seen in the Caribbean and was conveniently located to the ferry dock and town with a bonus shuttle service (once a day) included. Another bonus was the fabulous continental breakfast that was included in the price of the room. I only wish they served decaffinated coffee - instant coffee would be good enough! It was a perfect place to start and end our sailing trip. Not the place to stay if you want to be on the beach or are looking for a lot of activities.

My husband and I were going to St Thomas for a week and had stayed 4 nights at Marriott Frenchmen's Cove for a time share presentation, and then booked 3 nights at the Mafolie. He had reserved/requested a suite with a balcony, and upon checking in was told the balcony suite was just given away to another hotel guest.

The room was quite unbearably hot upon entrance as the hotel will charge you $10 a day if you leave the A/C on when you leave the room. I'm all for being 'green' and environmentally conscious, but it would take several minutes for the room to cool down, as well as small hidden charges such as $2 per day to 'rent' room safe. IF you rent a key for a safe do not leave the key in the room when you leave. I found the bathroom to have a few bugs, as well as insufficient amount of towels. The TV remote was not working so while we were at dinner it was replaced, however the person turned out all the lights, and when we returned we could not get in as the key we were given did not work, and we had to be given another key.

About 11pm the electricity went out, which is fairly common on the Virgin Islands, but the problem was we found out OUR room was the only unit that lost power, and the 'manager' on duty only gave my husband a flashlight and did not suggest anything else. We ended up making a reservation at Marriott Frenchman's Reef, packed by light of flashlight (dim) and our cell phone, and checked out of the hotel.

My best girlfriend and I decided to take a holiday down to the Yank’s St. Thomas to escape from dreary London. We stayed at this wonderful hotel overlooking a particularly brilliant view. We had impressive service and very good food. I highly recommend the Mofolie as the ideal spot for a group of friends having a spectacular holiday in celebration, newlyweds, or a couple celebrating a romantic anniversary. It was particularly nice to enjoy a cozy feeling in a slightly rustic but beautiful setting. I had splendid time and look forward to returning as soon as possible to the Mofolie!

We booked this hotel as part of a large destination wedding group and we were so disappointed. Let the adventure begin:

1. We specifically requested a two room suite and called one week before our trip to confirm. We were told we had the two room suite and all was a go. However, when we got there we were put in a different room. When we asked about the room change we were told it was given to someone else because we did not tell them to HOLD the ROOM. We had two young children with us and wanted them to have a quiet separate room. I have stayed in a lot of hotels and have never heard of something so stupid!!! The hotel did give us a discount for our stay as there were no other options but it did not make our stay any better.
2. We had no water for two of the days of our 4 night stay. There was no explanation, no apologies, no customer service. Try getting ready for a wedding or brushing your teeth with no water!!!
3. The window in our room was broken so we complained and nothing was corrected for two days after we had to complain a second time. We had to wear bug spray to bed because of the window being open and the screen being broken. Mosquitoes are a constant in this area.
4. Maid service - We had no towels when we arrived and had to go to the office to get them. I think we had maid service one of the four days if you can call it that. The bed was made one day and another day they brought towels. When we walked across the floor in our bare feet our feet turned black.

5. The pool bathroom had dead cockroaches in it. It looked like it had not been cleaned for a while.

The ONLY positive experience was the wedding reception held at the restaurant. The wait staff/bartender, food, and atmosphere were great.

I will NEVER return to this hotel and warn others to pick a different hotel when traveling to St. Thomas.
