“A nice place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

I only spent one night here but the staff was friendly and helpful. The bartender was great at the beach bar. He was a good sport and literally gave the shirt off his back to a guest that really wanted it. You do need to take a cab even though it isn't that far from the airport but way too far to walk hauling bags. I was a bit unhappy with the taxi price and later found that they are suppose to charge a specific price. If you pick up the free local tourist guide it is very helpful and includes what you need to know about the taxi's and ferries. The guides are located in the lobby of this hotel. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The pool is actually very clean and fun as well. There are a couple of kool kind of modern style hammocks near the pool that are worth trying to get to the pool early to claim! Enjoy!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony.

If you are visiting St Thomas and want to explore, this is a great place to stay. It's close to everything you need on the Island. You may want to rent a car to get over the Island, use Amalie Car Rental, they will set you up and they are better priced than the Nationally know car rentals. This Best Western is all ocean front rooms, pool, restauant. Best rooms are on the top floor, we feel. All of the rooms are the same. Front desk is very helpful. The grounds are tropical. You can see and hear the plans in the afternoon but not at night. Sunsets are great and the water is wonderful. No fuss, simple place to stay but you should be here for the Island and not all the glitz of a New York Hotel.

We had a quick overnight stop in St.Thomas before joining a cruise. The hotel is 3 star and served our needs well. Based on some suggestions from this site we decided to walk to the hotel with our luggage but it's a lot further than it appears on Google Earth and I would not do that again.
The room was clean but there were small items amiss such as pictures falling off the wall etc. - nothing major. There was a spacious balcony overlooking the narrow stretch of beach which was very pleasant.
Had cocktails and a pasta dinner at the beach bar. Service was friendly and prompt.
Would stay here again when we are back in St. Thomas.

I was born & raised on St. Thomas, so I know every beach and most of the hotels. However, I haven't been home in a while, so this hotel was new to me. It was the perfect choice: the property is beautiful, the views from the rooms are breathtaking and the location was excellent! It's close to town, and a short drive to the east end or any beach...but why would you need to go to any other when this is literally right outside your window? I know that some people mentioned airplane noise as an issue, but I barely registered the planes coming & going. They got the vibe just right as a spot to relax, on the beach or at the bar.

Particular praise to the staff for being amazing. They were genuinely friendly and went out of their way to help with requests. Giselle & Shani at the front desk; Tony, Morgan & Jebediah at the bar and beautiful ladies in the restaurant made my stay so happy that this is the only hotel I can imagine choosing for future visits.

Room Tip: All rooms face the beach-what's not to love? The only tiny thing is that there's no elevato...

We stayed here for one night prior to a cruise. The location was ideal for us as it was close to airport and only a couple of minutes drive to the old Crown Bay Dock where we joined our ship. The main shopping area was also quite a short cab ride away.

The hotel was a pleasantly landscaped property on a nice beach away from all the hustle and bustle. There was some sound from aircraft arriving and departing the nearby airport but it was far enough away to be relatively muted and did not bother us in the least.

The reception area was nicely finished and the staff, whilst not overly friendly, were not unpleasant and did an acceptable job. Our room was quite good for a 3 star property, it was reasonably well appointed, clean, quiet and quite comfortable.

The pool area was small but pretty with a view out over the water, the beach looked nice, as did the restaurant. We didn't try the restaurant but simply walked through it to access the bar which was tended by two cheerful and engaging bar tenders who, during our visit, were serving a lively and friendly crowd of vacationers.

We would happily stay here again and consider it to be a fairly good choice for a short vacation.

We did a fair amount of research on Charlotte Amalie hotels before coming and we concluded that none of them represented good value. If we had paid the same price for an identical hotel on the US mainland we would not have been happy, but in the context of the generally outrageous St. Thomas hotel prices, we were well satisfied.

Room Tip: The bar can get quite lively so pick your room location with that in mind.

I stay in the hotel last week, my room have a nice view to the beach, the rooms are clean, the air conditioning was excellent "very cold", the only thing was, that i stay in a room on the third floor and the water in the tub don't have enough pressure. But in overall, is a nice place to stay at St. Thomas!

My wife and I went in the last week of February this year with 2 other couples and loved the US VI. We have vacationed in mexico, Dominican republic, Aruba. We will go back, here are the pros/cons:
1. US VI safe, friendly but costs more than trips to say Dominican, Cancun. You get drinkable water and nice security for your money. We felt safe taking ferry's to any of the islands/beaches and had a great time. They speak English and take US dollars.
2. This hotel was clean, rooms was nice, we actually loved 1st floor (contrary to other reviews) as the 2-3rd floor views were in places limited by palm trees and we could readily walk up the beach, around the corner and into the room.
3. All drinks/beer run 5-7$ per drink. To save money take a taxi to the local grocery store, but your own rum and supplies, a 5$ cooler if ya want (though we didnt need one as there is a room refrig for beer). This trick saves a lot of money. Also a 12 minute walk away is a small market with food stuffs and drinks though costs a little more.
4. This beach was open to cruise ship visitors which was actually cool--new/different people in the afternoons. We were always on the beach in plenty of time to nab chairs which never was a hassle as the cruise ships dont really arrive until 10am and most cleared out by 2 pm. If you hate crowds then this is not the beach for you but in 45 min (2 taxi's and a ferry) you can be on more secluded beaches on St. john's island for a total travel fee of about 24 dollars one way per person.
5. We will go back to the US VI but would likely not stay at this resort mainly because we would rent a house with a kitchen to prepare 2 meals a day (food was costly at all places on the island) and because I cant spend that kind of money again and be so close to the airport. I havent had time to look much further yet at other options so close to the water, (and we LOVED being right on the water) but we fell in love with US VI.
6. Our favorite places to eat: The Twisted Cork (was a bit more but amazing quality food and service), Hook-Line and Sinker great Mahi Mahi grilled (best we had) and the lobster awesome here, Molly Malones (fun open air atmosphere, great service and tuna steak great, the conch dinner here was generous and great). For excursions Simplicity Charters wins our best day ever award: sailboat tour, great lunch and drinks, snorkeling and drop off at 2 private beaches. Breakfast and lunch at the emerald Beach was great and competitive pricing. We had the Friday night Caribbean buffet and all of us were disappointed by the quality of food, but the other nights with the restaurant seemed to serve better food according to other patrons.

Room Tip: We liked 1st floor: way better ocean view, easy fast beach access. Rooms on the north side farther a...
