“get your walking shoes on”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The 99 steps is a nice little hike, we've walked these before, it's a favorite for when we go to St.Thomas on business.

“99 steps and a little exercise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

The steps were very interesting. Of course you have to go up and also take a photo of them. We actually went up the steps another day too just for fun.

When you get to the top, you will see Blackbear's Castle and make sure you meet Randy. He is at the bottom of the Castle to direct you to start the tour.

“Stairs Instead of a Street”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

Imagine a narrow residential street with houses up a mountain. The houses are neat and small with small gardens and porches but no driveways. Now in your mind replace the narrow residential street with a simple set of steps. This is the 99 Steps. I had never even heard of a 'street' like this but Charlotte Amalie has several. If you get a good map you can walk up one and down the next. Locals apparently like to live on step streets because there is no traffic. Just a nice quiet place to live with an idyllic view if the harbor. Depending where you start counting there are more than 99 steps.
