“Small But Important Attraction”

This is an important gardens commemorating the emancipation of the sugar plantation slaves. After a few smaller slave protests a larger rebellion took place and in 1848 the Danish Governor issued a proclamation to free the slaves. This garden is an easy walk from anywhere in Charlotte Amalie and while not a massive botanical spectacle should be appreciated for what it stands for.

“Good prices, just barter!”

Had a chance to purchase some local caribbean stones for the family. Went up to Mountain Top and the price was 10 times as much. We found parking everyday we went down to shop as well. MUST DO!

The prices were cheaper here than the norm around St. Thomas and it's nice to visit with the locals.

“Historic site that is also beautiful”

This structure was built to commemorate the freeing of the slaves in the territory on July 3, 1848.

There are a lot of local events that go on here; for example, recently, the CAHS class of 1972 held a Quelbe dance clinic of sorts.

It is a great place to sit and people watch as St. Thomas is usually filled with tourist from around the world,

You'll want to visit the Emancipation Garden. Delightful view, very charming.
