“Service, smiles and super convenient!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I will open by saying that this trip was to be a quick getaway of five nights for myself, my brother and his wife and my two-year old nephew. We are from the northeastern climes and we were looking to get away from the winter weather and to relax.

Well we could not have chosen wiser! Traveling to the islands often has made me accustomed to hopping on puddle-jumpers and transfer ferries to get to the destinations of my choice. The ease and convenience of access to Marriott Frenchman's from STT airport was a welcome change.

Once on property the staff greets you warmly and direct you to where you need to be to accomplish tasks such as check-in, resort amenities and the beaches. The location of the property is right on the point and offers splendid views. Plenty of pools and a beautiful beach give you a variety of choices where to cool down and soak up sun. The good variety of dining options on-property never left us wanting. I will add that you ought to treat yourself to some of the great local Caribbean cuisine in Charlotte Amalie. The rooms where we stayed in the main building were clean and comfortably appointed, and always refreshed and restocked by housekeeping.

We did not opt for any of the gym, workout or spa services so I do not have any feedback in that aspect.

The one outstanding quality of our stay was the staff! Always at the ready with a 'Good morning!' or 'Have a nice day!' I can say it came from their hearts. We had my two-year old nephew with us and he got the red-carpet treatment! The Marriott is a very family and kid friendly resort. Kids menu always available and never felt as though it were a chore to have him along. A+ in that department!

I wish that I could remember all the names of the staff we had the pleasure of working with. Leah, Lyndis, Josh and Yvonne are a few I can recall but suffice to say that everyone gets a round of applause from us! You all did a very commendable job and we'll be back for more of your hospitality!

And last but not least a thank you to GM Jean-Paul Nel for sending us the welcome amenities and for having such a great property and the appropriate staff to go along!

Cheers!

Room Tip: As I always do, I prefer to ask for a higher floor room for the better views and away from the stree...

This hotel had a beautiful beach with great views. Our daughter had her wedding on 12-13-14 on this island and we stayed at the Reef. We had an outstanding housekeeper named Shirley who cleaned my daughters wedding dress (stained from beach sand ) between cleaning rooms! She went up and beyond her duties by volunteering this task.Julia at the omelet bar made outstanding omelets and looked forward to seeing her every morning :)) Also Judy, manager of food service was the most helpful with making this most special occasion even more special! She was outstanding! All in all a nice place to stay. One downfall is the beds are pretty hard, we all agreed on this and requested extra padding which helped some. Would highly reccomend this beautiful resort.

Some exceptionally friendly people like Antoinette Gomez.
Food service could be a little faster.
more water in the rooms please: it's pretty warm and people can easily dehydrate. A more varied menu would help after being in the water.

We stayed here because of the Marriott name. When we first arrived, we were put in a room with a beautiful view. Unfortunately, the building was under construction and there was a heavy moldy/musty smell in the room. So bad that we had to request a change. The new room was also nice, not a great view, but in a different part of the hotel that wasn't under construction and no smells.

We ate at a few of the restaurants - Havana Blue (the nice restaurant), Sandbar, the pool bar and room service. We weren't blown away by any of the food, but Sandbar was right on the beach and had live music every night, plus happy hour prices!

The pool area was fun with the swim up bar and our bartender was awesome! We loved hanging out there during our relaxing days.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, especially when we requested a room change. They also provided good recommendations for things to do on the island.

Overall, it was a nice stay. We loved St. Thomas, but would look at a VRBO next time instead of this hotel.

(Stayed here September 2013)

Room Tip: Request a view - definitely worth the ocean view with a balcony!!

We stayed at Frechmans Cove next door, but we went over to the Rum Bar at the Reef every night for drinks. It was so convenient (in the lobby of the hotel) and our drinks were delicious. Standard USVI selection of rum cocktails.

Chris took care of us at the bar our first night on the island and he was wonderful! Very attentive and gave us lots of good tips for the rest of our trip. Look for him when you go!

We sat inside at the bar, but there's also a huge outdoor patio with waitress service and a gorgeous view of the water.

My wife and I stayed for our honeymoon. While we were underwhelmed with the room (we were in the older part of the resort and there was a slightly musty odor that didn't go away), the view was great, and the service at the hotel was excellent. We found service in St. Thomas to be pleasant all around and Judy E. went out of her way to anticipate our needs and help us. We were trying to negotiate a contract back home and Judy, recognizing that we did not have ready access to a scanner in the business center, kindly offered to scan and email the contract for us. A simple gesture, but a very helpful one, and we greatly appreciated the attention and effort on her part. Additionally, when we saw her in the restaurant the next day, she followed up and asked if we needed any further assistance and wished us luck!

The food at the hotel was good. Not amazing, but good. The amenities were all good too - snorkeling, rafts, etc for the beach and multiple pools to lounge around at. Taxi from the hotel was between $6-12 per person to anywhere, which seems very reasonable. Good shopping in Charlotte Amalie (verify prices online, especially on watches - there were many good deals but a few not-so-good ones offered as well). Have fun, would return any time!

Clean room? Very
Good service? Very helpful
Good atmosphere? So much to do on the grounds alone!
Worth the price? 100%
Will we go back? Absolutely

The first thing to be noted about this hotel is the fact that it is full service, you can eat, party & play all in the same grounds. The property is so big, yet all of the staff is very inviting and helpful, you don't feel like just another number.

We had a great room right on the beach with a gorgeous view. The weather was nice enough to sleep with the shutter doors open listening to the waves crashing at night outside our door. We woke up in the morning, chose from several spots to get breakfast, then headed straight to the beach.

The location is a bit secluded, you have to take a water taxi or real taxi to get to town or any other area of interest. But this is also one of the best things about the grounds because it is a one stop shop, and you really have no reason to NOT sit on the beach and have calamari brought to your beach chair.
