“Great Views, But.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013 via mobile

It was a beautiful location, the view from the top of the tower was magnificent but its was way to overcrowded! The pools were packed and there was no place to sit. It was definitely overbooked! In addition we were lead to believe we would be able to order lunch but there was no food to be had. The only hing available was some kind of rum punch. Needless to say our stay was much shorter than we had expected and hoped for

“Very good restaurant and Tourist Stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

At the top of "99 steps, this is a very good experience, especially for parents travelling with children. Larger than life statues of all the famous pirates that roamed the Caribbean in search of bounty, as well as authentic homes from the 1700's Caribbean. Guided tours are offered if desired.

“Lots of walking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

First of all, there is no actual proof that Blackbeard was ever here, so disregard the name. Lots of history here, with statues of famous pirates. The Amber Museum was very interesting. We bought some rum to have delivered to our cruise ship, unfortunately it never made it. They did refund out money though.

“Amazing tour with amazing views!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

We were at St. Thomas while cruising and took the tour to Blackbeard's Castle. There are several very helpful and friendly guides throughout, but you visit the museum at your own pace. There are bars to hang out, pools to swim in if you wish, gift shops and jewelry/rum shops within the museum, which has breathtaking views of the ocean. At the bottom of the hill where the tour ends, there is enough shopping and restaurants to spend and entire day.

“Are they ever open?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

Only one cruise ship in port so they don't open? Walked up the 99 steps, then onto Blackbeards Castle and found it closed mid afternoon - prime time. While there a whole taxi full of tourists pulled up also and they're not open. Big disappointment
