“A bad experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2014

This was by far one of worst experiences ever. It almost ruined our honeymoon completely. Foremost the setting was beautiful and our server was nice but the real issue occurred after we left the restaurant. While eating my husband mentioned that the paella had a slightly sour taste. i immediately told him to return it but he' s stubborn and said its probably the spices they cooked it in and it wasn't that bad. Well eating it led to him being sick that night and the whole next day. Thank goodness we were on a 5 day trip or we wouldn't have had any time to enjoy the rest of what St Thomas had to offer. I honestly can't rate this place any higher than poor and thats being nice.

“Great place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2014

First of all, it is important to note that the proper name for this Restaurant is Meson Amalia. Do not confuse this place with the Amalia Cafe down the way! I see some poor reviews that speak of ocean views, this is not the same restaurant!

The food here is wonderful and my husband loves their sangria. We have been coming here for several years and have always had a wonderful experience!

If you plan to be here on a heavy cruise ship day, I recommend reservations.

“Flavorful Food Great Atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Amalia Cafe was suggested to us for lunch. We happened to be shopping at a local handcrafted jewelry store called Okidanokh Goldcraft across the way and ended up having our best meal on the island at there lovely restaurant. Our waitress was delightful and the owners were very gracious. My son and I had tapas, salad and sangria and felt like we were eating in Europe. Everything was delicious, fresh and seasoned well. Highly recommend! :)

“Worst food in st Thomas”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013 via mobile

Worst food in all of st thomas and so expensive. The paella was so disgusting I only ate one bite. Tasted like rotten old fish, and the seafood in all the dishes was NOT good. When we attempted to send it back the waitress was totally dismissive and didn't take it off the bill.
I hope we don't get food poisoning from bad seafood...
If you want good food at a good price go over to the red hook area.

“Everything was perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

This café was a great experience throughout. We were seated promptly on the outdoor terrace with a nice view of the harbor, and our server Justin was the best! He answered questions we had about the wines on the menu, and also consulted with the owner for a perfect bottle to accompany our meal. Everything was fresh and the flavors were outstanding! Savory, sweet, tangy all mixed in perfect proportions. The paella was the best we had ever had...and we have travelled extensively. The lobster and pasta special was also amazing. Dessert and coffee were the perfect way to round out the experience. The menu is creative and original and the service was superb. Justin knew the menu and was adept at suggesting the perfect meal! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who travels to St. Thomas....it is not to be missed!
