We visited this restaurant after we were told there were no available tables for Saturday dinner at Ritz Carlton where we were guests. We read the positive reviews on TripAdvisor and thought we would give it a try. I just wish we did it sooner in our stay as this was our last night on the island.
Just a short walk from the Ritz, this place is small, beach casual with outdoor seating. While you can't really see the beach at night, you know it is close by the sounds of the surf and the evening breezes. Outdoor space is covered and while they also have indoor seating, ask to sit outside and get the full experience.(just make sure to ask to sit on the water side of patio as the bar does get noisy at times.
The service is casual, very knowledgeable and attentive and our server was "the Mr. Big Life" who has two favorite expressions.."I got you covered and "life is good". He could have also said the food was good and dare say even great! We all had no problem finding choices and every appetizer, entree and desert served to our party of five was plated beautifully, tasted amazing and was just the right portion size. Mr. Big Life knew his food, wine and sauce parings and even the right words to say when the kitchen was backed up and delayed our entrees for almost 45 minutes. But with great company, appetizers, wine and warm sea breezes, we almost didn't notice. Mr. Big Life was apologetic and also gave us complimentary beverages with our desert. My favorite was the sweet potato cheesecake...wow!
While we are likely not to stay again at the Ritz Carlton, if we go back to St. Thomas, Caribbean Fish Market will be the place we will go for dinner on the first, and even the second.night!
Well done Mr.Big Life and Caribbean Fish Market!
