“Bring It On Again, Great Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2011

Just spent a day out on Rumbaba with Chad and Lori exploring the islands and cays. We've done a number of activities while on St Thomas and the Rumbaba sail was a great choice.

Chad and Lori started us off right with homemade banana bread. Then we headed out to St. John and Hawks Nest Beach for some first-quality snorkeling time. The fish and the coral and other inverts are colorful and plentiful. Had the waterproof camera and snapped some pictures of staghorn corals and brain corals that were just remarkable. The water is sapphire blue, warm and crystalline clear. The crew gave us all the time we wanted and provided interesting background info regarding the islands, their geology and history.

After the snorkel, Lori and Chad served up lunch that was as good as anything (and better than most) we have had on St. Thomas. Fresh, perfectly cooked fish, including a fantastic ahi. The mango curry dip recipe is worth stealing, but they provided that recipe and recipes for all the other dishes they served at the end of the trip.

Rumbaba is a clean, good sailing boat and Chad skippers her well. Lori has lived on St. Thomas for over 20 years and will tell you great stories about the locals and the off-the-tourist-path spots. She also had plenty of opportunity to show off her bartending skills. Excellent rum punch.

We had time for a second snorkeling stop off St. Johns, which was equally impressive. Then it was a comfortable sail downwind to the marina.

This was an excellent trip and a very worthwhile way to spend a day enjoying the beauty of the USVI. Highly recommended.

Out of all the things we did in St Thomas, swimming with Sea Lions, Parasailing, Megan's Bay, Coral World, the Butterfly place, shopping; by far our favorite day was when we went sailing with Rumbaba Charters. It was so relaxing and the crew was so friendly and did a wonderful job. The food was amazing! God is so good and has created such a beautiful world for us to enjoy.

“Amazing and Very Memorable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2011

We just got back from a cruise to the Bahamas, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Our time in St. Thomas was spent with Rumbaba Charters and it was well worth it. Captain Bobby and Lori were so great. They accommodated us with the food and drinks that we requested, they answered all of our questions, gave us great history and information about the islands and took us to some amazing snorkeling spots. We were the only ones in these spots (the other spots were filled with the cruise ships shore excursions). If you're going to go, make sure you take your underwater camera so that you can take pictures of the fish and coral that you see while snorkeling. The food and drinks that Capt. Bobby and Lori prepared were great if not better than what we had on the cruise. And at the end of the trip, they give you the recipes to the food and drinks. (That is going to come in handy soon). The only thing I didn't like about the trip was that it wasn't as easy to get in the boat as I thought it would be. We had to take one of those little boats to get to it, and I always feel like i'm going to tip over in those things. But it really wasn't that bad, I would do it again because the rest of the trip is so worth it. I would recommend to anyone that doesn't mind spending all day and the money to check out Rumbaba. I will always remember my time in St. Thomas because of Capt. Bobby and Lori. Thank you for such a great day on the water!

“Great Day!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2011

We had a great day on the Rumbaba charter. There were six of us in our mid to upper 20’s and were renting a home in St. Thomas. Captain Bobby picked us up from Red Hook and we went to his boat. Lori and he were great hosts for the day. Telling us jokes, answering any questions we have and filling us in on the culture of the Virgin Islands. As soon as we were on board, we were offered drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). The favorites were the Rum Runners and the Pain Killers. Bobby will let you snorkel for a while or just sail, depending on your groups preference. We sailed for a little while then we went to Christmas Beach. We snorkeled, and during that Bobby and Lori began to prepare us a great lunch. The lunch, we had a choice of filet, ahi tuna, and mahi mahi. I am a very picky eater and Captain Bobby was happy to butterfly my filet and cook it well. Others in the group had the tuna and mahi mahi; everyone enjoyed what they ate very much! We all eat at fine dining restaurants throughout many large cities and the food definitely measured up to first class cuisine. The appetizers we had were delicious as well. We can’t wait to re-create the appetizer recipes we took. Everyone in the group was thoroughly impressed with our day sail experience that we had on the Rumbaba. We highly recommend it!

“Highlight of our week vacation!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2011

We just returned from a week in St Thomas @ the Marriott Frenchman's Cove. We were looking for a private day sail and the activities desk at the Marriott immediately steered us to Rambaba. We were not dissapointed! This was, by far, the best activity we experienced during our stay. Captain Bobby met us promptly at 9 and took us to our "home" for the day - an almost 40 ft sail boat. My wife and I enjoyed cocktails by 9:30, and our 3 kids were entertained as first mate Lori provided her colorful commentary about the USVI as motored and sailed out through the USVI. We spent almost 2 hours in a fairly secluded spot just off a small USVI where we snorkeled (saw plenty of beautiful sea creatures) and took a "dive" off the front of the boat. Our older daughter (12) particularly enjoyed that thrill. No detail was left unaddressed - they even provided a small "floatee" for our son (4) which had a clear "window" so he could lay on his back while I pulled him through the water so he could view the sea life as if he was snorkeling. As advertised, the food and beverages were exceptional - appetizers of shrimp, bagel chips, etc., the entrees were fantastic, esp. the rare tuna and mahi mahi. It was hands down the best part of our vacation - - and a day our children will likely never forget. Thanks again to Captain Bobby and first mate Lori - well done.
