This resort has a great beach! It is private and beautiful. You see boats passing by frequently between St. John and St. Thomas. If you are expecting to snorkle on this beach, you will be disappointed. There is not much sealife here (you need to go to the other side of the island, e.g., Coki Beach) and where there is some, you will see reminents of some piping sticking out of the ocean floor.
The resort unit was nice. However, if you are looking to use and oven, forget it. There is none -- only a range top, a microwave and a frig. No dishwashing machine either.
The grounds of the place are not very well kept up. The tennis courts are unusable. Some of the buildings have hurricane damage from 1995 that is yet to be repaired. TO TOP IT OFF, the pool, resturant and bar were all shut down for "repairs." Interestingly, the pool was filled back up by Wednesday and guests were not allowed to use it!
Here's the WORST PART - The staff are gererally not friendly or helpful. They seemed somewhat perturbed if you asked a question! Their favorite response is "I Don't Know" This is to questions such as - Where I can buy some beer? Where is the closest bar? How can I access the room internet? How can I access my phone messages? Can we use the BBQs on the grounds? One day, a resort staffer left me a phone message that was unintelligible. I called to ask about the message contents, no one knew who left it or why!
The ONLY person at the resort who was nice to deal with was Kimbro, the marketing director. Of course, she was in charge of trying to sell us more timeshare points.
The people of St. Thomas were not very friendly or helpful generally. If you ask a question of a native, you will generally get the "I don't know" response and the person will seem irriated.
Despite this, we did have a good time at the beach, on St. John, at Coki Beach, at Corral World and on a sunset cruise (Saphire Cruises). On a positive note, the people at Saphire were great, people on St. John were more friendly. If I went back to the USVI I would stay on St. John.
My recommendation - Don't go to this resort or to St. Thomas. Go to Hawaii -- The people are nicer, the mountains are prettier, the snorklying better, and food is cheaper!
