I was very pleased with my stay at the Ritz. My husband and I stayed there for our honeymoon for 9 days this July. The grounds were maintained beautifully and all the staff members were friedly, helpful and courteous. Our rooms were well appointed to and our view overlooked the gardens and also had a balcony. I will say the food is very expensive, but the portions are pretty decent and i enjoyed what we ate. I will say you have to know what to order, which takes a couple of orders b/c certain items you will not get a lot of food but the burgers and salads are pretty generous and possibly enough for 2(at sails where we ate most days). One night we were very dissapointed with our meal at the supposed "sport bar with sushi"--there the food is overpriced with small portions (Great Bay Lounge). The more formal Bluewater restaurant is pricey with entrees starting at $35 but the food is delicious and service makes the restaurant worthwhile.
There were a decent amount of kids at the ritz, which I underestimated as creating a different setting. Most of the kids weren't a problem but there are some who are bratty which add to a diff. atmosphere, but did not bother us personally.
Service beachside and poolside was good-- servers will come to your lounge chair with drinks, food etc, which I heard from other travellers was not a service as readily available at other hotels.
Zero night life so if you want a relaxing atmosphere this is it, but if you want a bar to hang out at with other people it's not here. We did not do an all inclusive and enjoyed going to restaurants in the area--red hook is close w/ mult restaurants with wonderful food. I would say if you want a cultural/local piece I would not do an all inclusive. Ritz was great as a hotel and beautiful and relaxing but I liked being able to get out and explore the island without feeling we were wasting our money.
Overall, great no worry vacation with all the amenities, great service as long as you're able to splurge on the food.

We have stayed in many Ritz Carlton Resorts. The Ritz St Thomas does not measure up to Ritz service standards. The staff acted like they were doing us a favor when we asked for assistance. (Usually you never have to ask at a Ritz. The staff inquires how they can assist you) Not in St Thomas . They pile your lugguge with other guests luggage when you arrive. With no assistance from the staff we located the checkin area and checked in without a problem. We then went back out to the valet stand where we had to pull our luggage out of the pile and ask for assistance to our suite which was in an adjacent building about 300 yards away. Every time we returned to the resort in our rental car, we had to ask for assistance from the valet. Another couple from Florida also commented on how disappointed they were with the service.
Even emailed the management with no response.

the worst experience ever. The chef said he hadnt been compensated for his 15 hour days in months. When asked why the food took so long he said ask the GM. They are saving money because they cant sell enough timeshares and the President doesnt care. They treat the local people like dogs. At least the roaches arent as bad but the cats are. I really enjoyed the pool, but the beach is nothing like St John or anywhere else on island. I will never go back. Money that was paid, I could buy my own home on a beach anywhere in the islands and get service with a smile. No wonder they cant sell their timeshares.
Then they told me why they let the old GM packing.

never again...

My wife and I just loved the Ritz at St Thomas. The rooms were great, service impeccable and the food/drink was fabulous. When we arrived, our room was not available and we were upgrade to ocean view at no additional charge (THANK YOU RITZ). It was a nice touch after spending the better part of the day with planes and taxis. The food and drink is on the expensive side for what you get but compared to the costs of a taxi and going somewhere else it all evens out. Also after visiting many restaurants and bars we felt the service was better at the Ritz. When we go back next year we will return to the Ritz.

“Wow..”

Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas

I'll start by saying I don't give everyplace a great review, but the Ritz St. Thomas definitely deserves one. The rooms are extremely clean, well maintained and very spacious. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure everything about your stay is perfect. They are friendly and responsive to any requests.

Another post stated the beach here wasn't that great - too small and other issues. I did not find this to be the case. Being from Florida, I'm used to endless beaches - some full of people. That's not the Ritz. The beach is exclusive, clean and on the most pristine bay on St. Thomas (Great Bay - a marine sanctuary) The snorkeling is fabulous. The water sports are the best - we took a small catamaran out each day and loved it. Also, being an experience windsurfer , I really appreciated the wonderful service from Paul and the rest of the staff at the watersports area.

The food wasn't the best I've had and is really overpriced - I expected more. We did enjoy "Off the Hook", "Molly Malone's" (Red Hook) and "The GreenHouse" (Charlotte Amalie).

Seeing the fireworks across the channel on St. John for July 4th and the great party at the Ritz was great.

Overall, this is a wonderful place and you won't be disappointed if you stay here.
