“Private escape.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2014

Getting there and back is a bit of a challenge, schedule wise.
The beach is secluded and not overrun by the tourists. Local bar has enough to get you by and it also offers chaise lounges on the beach.
The Captain of the Water Taxi was an a-hole. But don't let that little nuance spoil your day.

“Water Island.....great way to spend the day....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

We were spending a week in St. Thomas at Point Pleasant Resort April 2-9, 2014 and we met a lady on the Safari bus that lived on Water Island. So we planned a day there. We took the Ferry there in the morning (only a 10 minute ride) $10 round trip, and rented a golf cart for the day from 10 am to 6 pm $20 from Kelly (340) 643-5124. We had fun just driving around the island. Most people get around on their golf carts so there is not traffic and we never saw any cars. Honeymoon beach is walking distance from the ferry and just beautiful. There are two great restaurants right on the beach and both are great.

Visitors to Water Island must take the small Water Island ferry (max. 25 passengers) which operates daily between Crown Bay Marina on St. Thomas and Phillips Landing on Water Island. The ferry docks in front of Tickles Restaurant at the marina. Ferry service is reliable and takes about 10 minutes, one way.
There is no car ferry. Crown Bay → Water Island

“Go to DINGY'S Beach Bar!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

Water Island is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of St. Thomas. take the ferry over and rent a golf cart (Kelly's Karts was the best) and go explore the island! You must stop at Dingy's Beach Bar, have drinks and go to the beach! The atmosphere is wonderful and who doesn't like a bar/restaurant right on the beach! The sunset was beautiful! The owners of the bar are fabulous and might be the best people we met on the island. When we lost a backpack with car keys and a cell phone they took us to find the bag in the dark and after we found it they took us back to St. Thomas on their dingy! You can't find people like that anywhere! They were life savers!!!!

“Water Island”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2014

Went to Water Island for a day trip. Ferry over was fine 10.00 round trip. Transported to Honeymoon beach by a fellow with a jitney no charge. No charge for beach chairs at Dingy Beach, however chairs were dirty, man with his dog-- tossing a frisbee a good part of the afternoon, a large group of gals celebrating a bachelorette party very noisy. The other side of the beach seemed quieter. If you choose to go to Water Island go to side with natural shade, and palapas.
I was expecting a pristine beach very disappointed.
Ps
We went on a day with only One cruise ship in port

“Out of the way beach away from the crowds.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2014

Water island is a small island off St. Thomas. Can only get there by ferry out of Crown Bay Marina. $10 round trip. Nice little beach with drinks and food available. Usually not crowded unless the cruise ship excursions are there, but they're usually only there for an hour or two. Good little get away and a good place for some beach time if you're cruise ship is docked at Crown Bay dock.
