We had a great time with Chillaxin' and Max and Christa! It all started with the process of booking which was smooth and easy as Max answered my 1000 questions quickly and happily before the start of our vacation.
On the day of the trip, they met us at the beach of our hotel and the staff on the beach took us out to the boat on a little dingy. The boat, Chillaxin', was perfect. The reason for the trip was as a birthday gift for my 64 year old mom. She got on the boat, found her perfect seat and had a big huge grin on her face. The boat is so comfortable and spacious and easily accomodated the four of us plus Max and Christa.
After boarding and being given Mimosas and Bloody Mary's, they took us to a beautiful bay off of St. John where they provided a great breakfast of fruit and pastries. While we ate, Max talked to us to plan out the day. We had been to the Virgin Islands many times in the past but had never snorkled around the Indians in the British Virgin Islands nor had we gone to the Willy T's. So there was the plan!
After a quick stop in Tortola to go through customs (which Christa did for us while we slowly toured Soper's Hole), we were off to the Indians. It was a beautiful day and the ride was smooth and easy. Once there, we all got on our snorkel gear and hopped in the water. Both Max and Christa were with us in the water which was great to two reasons. One was that they pointed out fish, coral, and other underwater life that we may not have seen on our own. The other reason was that Christa helped my mom swim against the current when we returned to the boat (Thanks Christa!). But that area to snorkel is fantastic. Great formations, tons of fish, lots of life! Perfect suggestion from Max!
After that we stopped at the Willy T's for lunch where we met Zeus the bartender and had a couple or more Zeus Juices. The food was really good too!
Then it was off to Jost Van Dyke for a quick stop at Foxy's and then over to Soggy Dollar where we just enjoyed the good life of sitting on the beach in White Bay drinking Painkillers. The Soggy Dollar is also known for having a few Ring Games around where you try to catch a ring onto a hook. So Max and I were standing by one of the games where a guy was failing to hook the ring. The guy bet Max and I that we couldn't get the ring on the hook in five tries. Max then nails it on his first try. Just a quick story to point out that Max, as well as Christa, not only make your day enjoyable but have a great time doing it.
After Jost it was time to head back. On previous trips to Jost on smaller boats, the trip back had been rough. Chillaxin' made it smooth and easy. My mom, in her seat, enjoyed the nice smooth ride all the way to Cruz Bay where we checked in with customs, and then all the way back to the hotel, where Christa called ahead to make sure that someone could get us in the hotel dingy to take us back to the beach.
We are looking forward to our next trip down to St. Thomas and will definitely take Chillaxin' or Chillaxin' II out on a trip to the BVIs. After being on a few charters in the past, this experiance with Max, Christa, and Chillaxin' is what charting boats in the Virgin Islands should all be like. I can't recommend them strongly enough!
