We arrived in St Thomas on our first day stop off on The Adventure of the Seas and took the $4 taxi ride into the town centre, after wandering around the tiny market for a while we was approached by one of the tour bus touts and promised a tour of the Island and a couple of hours at the beach before dropping us back off at the quayside all for $25 a head, a bargin really, a tour of the island basically for $21. First stop just above the town with a view of the harbour and a very informative narrative re the history of the town, Next stop stunning views of Megans Bay again an excellent narrative, the next stop was the tourist trap (the tacky tourist presents) but in saying that the views from the terrace again were stunning. We were then promised free Banana Daqueri at our next port of call, great if you are Lilliputian and your thirst quench by a thimball sized tumberler of virgin Daqueri, a proper glassful of a rum based drink was $5, but hey we do it to tourist to this country. Next stop was a beach, a small local beach very nice white sand and pretty but a little crowded, but still extremely nice and relaxing. true to his word the tour guide was back to pick us up for the return trip to the ship. We were pleasantly suprised not to be badgered for a tip on top of the fare for the excursion, the price for a similar excursion for the ship was $45 each, so if you want a bit of a bargin and are a bit adventuerous do your own thing.
