“Expensive for the Average Food and Average Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

The best part about this restaurant were the two cute cats that sat by our table. The service was average at best, with the waiters never remembering who ordered what. They were friendly though, just not first class waiters suited for what is supposed to be one of the best restaurants in St. Thomas. The food was just not that good. It was average. It reminded me of LA restaurants, the food was a little blend, with some spices on top, but in its entirety the food lacked an infusion of flavor as you would normally expect from superb dishes. It was nothing to write home about, and certainly not a restaurant I would go to again. In fact, we had plans to go there for breakfast the next morning, but thought it was best to skip that idea after such a "blah" dinner experience. We have to say, we knew that some reviewers had mentioned it was not that great, and we felt that maybe they were just not foodies and could not tell a good restaurant from an average one. We thought maybe they just were complaining of the cost, and we felt that great food and excellent dining experience are priceless, so we had to try to see. Besides, how could a restaurant at the Ritz Carlton be average? Well, it was. Plain and simple. We could have done without it. But we should have known better because when we called to make our reservation we had a hard time when the hostess on the phone took a while to realize she was looking at the wrong year in her calendar, and she kept insisting the day of the month we wanted to come was a different day of the week than we were saying it was. While we were there we were outside, with no umbrella at oru table, and when it started raining the waiters just starred at each other not knowing what to do - and ended up not doing anything. The people on the table next to ours were obnoxiously loud and their conversation was slightly inappropriate/offensive. So it was just not that great an experience. I would say try another restaurant. We much preferred Havana Blue or better yet Old Stone Farm House. Go to those.

“Birthday Dinner w/ AMAZING CAKE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

Party of 7 celebrating my aunts 65th birthday with dinner at this fine restaurant and a wonderful cake ordered from Kunal the pastry chef at the Ritz. Not only we were stunned by the spot on service (not surprising at the Ritz) the amazing attention of the staff to the birthday girl, the heartfelt presentation of the cake, which happened to be a strawberry champagne cake, simply breath taking. We are a full service kind of family, cocktail drinks, wine, appetizers, first courses, main courses, after dinner drinks and desert, this restaurant and staff did not miss a beat. We could not be more grateful. When you go, order the lobster mac and cheese.... sooooo delicious!!! And don't forget to stop by the bar and meet the maker of the original Bushwhacker.

Side note to the manager: Thanks again for the amazing service and please compliment Kunal for the cake, we could not get enough.

“A decent restaurant that was off its game tonight”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2012

We've heard good things about Bleuwater, but were a bit disappointed when we went there other night. The appetizers were very good. We started with the lobster bisque and the lobster mac-and-cheese. Both were well executed and very delicious. For the entrees, we tried the ribeye with foie gras butter and the scallops with mushroom risotto. The ribeye was nice, and the foie gras butter was a very nice complement. The scallops, on the other hand, were severely overcooked and the mushroom risotto was just a bit bland.

The service also left something to be desired. We inquired about the tasting menu at the very beginning (which is mentioned on the actual menu), but our waiter didn't know how much it cost or even how many courses it usually is. It was also difficult to get his attention throughout the night. Lastly, our entrees came out literally as our appetizers were being cleared. We felt like we were being rushed out even though the restaurant was only half full.

The dishes on the menu seem nice and I think Bluewater generally provides a very nice meal, but unfortunately we didn't have a great experience.

“Lovely Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

Lovely atmosphere, fresh and flavorful food with a staff that makes the expereience complete. We dined here the evening we arrived on St Thomas Island. Being located at the Ritz-Carlton it was nice to have a restaurant with such high standards on the property. Grilled Ceasar Salad was fixed perfectly. Nice light char with the perfect amount of carmalization. To this I added grilled shrimp skewers that also were cooked perfectly. My husband enjoyed a dish of large sweet grilled scallops that he never offered to share. We finished the evening with some of the best creme brulee I have ever enjoyed.
