The guides were friendly and experienced. We saw fish, turtles, and a shipwreck. It was a great time and a lot of fun!

“June 2010 Captain Nautica Snorkle trip- St. Thomas"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2010

As a part of a wedding trip group, 10 of us were welcomed aboard the Tropic Lighting ( JP is the Captain, and Ryan was the 1st mate). The crew was completely accomodating for whatever we wanted to do- island hop, shop, swim, snorkle, visit sights. They are very safety minded, gave us all a refresher course on snorkeling basics and let us spend as much time on each activity as we wanted. Boat was well stocked with eats and drinks. I would highly recommend this trip as a part of any visit to St. Thomas , and the Tropic Thunder boat in particular. They made the process of getting into the BVI and re-entering USVI very easy. We got to snorkel "the Indian" and the caves on the island Robert Loius Stevenson made famous. We visited Willy T's for a high jump and Foxy's for lunch on Jost Van Dyke Is. Never a dull moment and a great group activity. Dont miss out.

“Review of Captain Nautica Snorkel Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2008

On November 18th of this year, we took this excursion during our time on the Carnival Liberty. We booked it through Carnival, but it can also be booked independently.

http://www.captainnautica.com/index.php

We arrived in St. Thomas and headed to the dock and were met by a rep from Captain Nautica. Once we were all assembled, she shepherded us to the boat, and we stowed away anything we wanted to keep dry and away we went.

We blazed across the water to Turtle Cove. We put on gear including an inflatable life vest (uninflated), which was annoying, but I suppose it made it clear to the operators who was on 'their' tour, since we were the only ones wearing them (and there were a couple other boats at each dive spot). They also had 'noodles' for those who were not confident in their swimming ability, but I saw no one use them. I still don't understand why someone would book an ocean snorkel tour if you were not confident in your to swim. We jumped into the water and almost instantly saw a turtle. A few feet away, we saw a manta ray. It was an awesome start to the day! We saw an amazing array of fish and coral over the next few hours!

We had about an hour in the water at Turtle Cove, got back in the boat and headed to Shipwreck Cove, on the other side of the isalnd (a short trip). We jumped into the water and explored the shipwreck. We were both surprised to see jellyfish; for some reason we weren't expecting those. The fish around the reef were beautiful and plentiful!

After another hour in Shipwreck Cove, we reboarded and had fruit, beverages and the oddest snack I've ever had on snorkel trip, shrimp cocktail. It was delicious, however we were so hungry, we would've been happy with anything!

We headed back to the dock and that was that. It was a sunny, clear day and I did get a little sunburned, mostly because I was hesitant to slather on sunscreen and snorkel around the turtles. It was, however, worth the sunburn!

We had a great time and we'd do this excursion again in a second! If you have any specific questions, I'm happy to answer them!
