“Burn Me Once Burn Me Twice Not Three Times!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2012

This was my second time to the "resort" . Against my better judgement, it was my friends decision. The "resort" is on a main st. so don't plan on sleeping (loud thumping music with cars driving by) the sheets are the YMCA's throw backs, I had two repeat issues with my room to no solution! Cruise ship travelers are sold beach chairs and crowd the beach with smoking, drinking too much and talking too loud on cell phone's "MAA- GUESS WHERE I AM,,,, I'M ON THE BEACH IN ST.CROIX.....ST.CROIX...." yes you get the point. Cruisers in for the day to eat, drink, smoke and leave the beach with their trash and cigarette butts. Now for the good part - this "resort" charges $12.67 a day for a "Energy Charge" what for? They claim to offer a "Continental Breakfast" stale muffins, luke warm coffee and only one toaster. Not a piece of fruit to be found or a staff member for that matter. I had two operational issues with my room and had to move twice! No compensation was offered, actually I barely got an apology.
This place is not the most expensive on the on island but for a few dollars more, you can get an exceptionally nicer place to vacation. P.S. As Woman traveling along we were told by the staff that Fredrikstead is "NOT" safe to walk around at night, - FYI. Check out the other side of the island.

Room Tip: get as far from the road as possible. Make sure Hot Water works, AC works and there is waterer pre...

If you plan on just stopping in and staying a few days...... your in for a surprise....you won't be able to bring your self to leave with out asking for another reservation. The staff is the best! The food is out of this world. Grounds are beautiful and well maintained. View is breathtaking and if your into just hanging around and relaxing then this is the place for you. I would highly recomend this hotel.

Room Tip: Book early...rooms are reserved early and often.

I have to thank the entire staff at Sand Castle on the beach for providing the best place to stay in St. Croix. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is cozy and the view is awesome. The beach is one of the best on the Island. The sunsets are amazing and the people are great. For anyone looking for a full service, relaxing vacation this is a great place to stay and enjoy. Thank You to the entire staff, Erma,Bruno,Robert,AJ, Monica, Scott, Chad and Simone & Sheryl. Thanks for making my 3.5 month stay in St. Croix the best business trip of my life.

A week at Sand Castle on the Beach is surely not long enough. The hotel is a real oasis offering comfort, service, and mostely the sort of beauty and climate I expected to find in paradise. The entire staff made us feel so at home that we are working toward moving there. Irma, Bruno, and all the rest of the staff made us feel we belonged. The chef at the Cafe was a wonderful surprise. Who would have expected gormet meals with a flair found in few reataurants?

Room Tip: Make sure you ask to have a sea view if that is most improtant. All of the rooms are comfortable an...

Can't say enough about the friendly helpful service. Sheryl (one of the owners, Bruno and Scott) are tops! Make you feel like family. Right on the beach, great location for hunting sea glass, and snorkeling. Rainbows in the morning and sunsets at night. Clean pool, free parking, small older, but clean rooms (don't expect 5 * hotel, but they make it up in other ways. WiFi spotty at best, but free, free parking, nice to have a cooler to use and microwave, sink and refrig. in room too. Dinner menu to die for, but pricy, ($$$$ all over the island) but food is wonderful, and yummy deserts! Do try it at least once! We had a stress free relaxing time. The guests are a mix, but all very nice, and such fun, chatting by the pool.
Negatives, the roads, and roads signage horrible. Don't always believe the little maps you get at the airport! Plan on getting lost, but then sometimes that the fun, ha ha.
St. Croix a very poor island, sad to see the shanties, don't expect too much night life, and be careful where you go at night.
Thanks for a wonderful week of friends, rainbows and sunsets!

we have just come back from 2 weeks in paradise.
Sand Castle on the beach is a beautyfull hotel situated on one of the best beaches, where you can snorkle swim or just enjoy the good weather.
Everybody working at sand Castle are nice warm and very helpfull, so you immediately feel welcome and comfortable.
Every morning between 7.30-10 they serve the good original continental breakfast, and while enjoing this you sit and listen to the waves, and sometimes you can watch race horses swimming.
Do'nt miss their excellent restaurant, it's gotv a touch of Japanes, Frencg and Mexican kitchen, and we loved it-
Are we planning on going back YES.
Love Poul and Birgitte Copenhagan Denmark.

My husband and I had a delayed flight out of Houston that caused us to nearly miss the Miami connection to St. Croix. To top it all off, we could not find this motel; according to Google maps it was in the downtown area of Fredericksted, but it is actually about a mile away. We finally stopped at the police station and they gave us an escort. They had called the Sand Castle security guard, Robert, who was very welcoming and showed us to our room - it was 10:30pm by then. They had two cold bottles of water in the fridge for us. We over slept the next morning after getting in so late and we missed the daily free continental breakfast, but Bruno went and got a platter of breads and muffins and orange juice for us. We found all the staff to be extremely friendly, welcoming, and efficient at their jobs. They had internet available until late in the lobby area, $5 per day per person snorkeling gear, a nice, clean outdoor pool, and restaurant seating right on the pristine tan sandy beach. There was good snorkeling on the premises. If you have gone everywhere and seen it all, this motel has everything you need right here - and Armstrong's homemade ice cream and grill just 3 miles away. (2 scoop cone for $3). We had a second story room at Sand Castle with a lanai. If it weren't for all the lush greenery, we would have had a sea view - we could definitely hear it. The weather was remarkable - 82-78. It showered one day, but otherwise was sunny most of the days. The staff allowed me to print my boarding passes off the internet. They clean the rooms daily and make the beds. We felt like royalty. You get to know the people staying there since this is a small motel and they were friendly as well. You could see the pier and ships coming in. Very, very relaxing and laid back. We are definitely going back one day.

Room Tip: We had a queen bed, non-smoking room. We slept well.
