This place is small but it is packed with delightful surprises. The interior is warm and inviting (so don't be put off by the outside of the building), wait staff are friendly and helpful, the menu is absolutely gourmet and the food is both fabulously presented and delicious.

We had dinner there twice. The second time we took out a couple we met while on vacation in VI and were surprised by live music. On Tuesdays they have a special where it's two bottles of wine for the price of one!

Menu items change often, so we were told, but everything we had from appetizer to main meal was wonderful. And the prices were very reasonable.

My husband and I dined here on Christmas Eve and it was the best meal we had on St. Croix. Interesting food and good wine. The flourless chocolate cake was like eating a fine piece of chocolate. The lobster bisque was excellent. Good job!

I have been traveling to St. Croix for many years and had heard about Salud, but never stopped in to check out the food. Do not be discouraged by the mall-type setting. This place serves grade-A food that is inventive, flavorful and memorable. We started with the grilled calamari served in an Asian style broth with vegetables--spicy and delightful! We also had a butter lettuce salad with gorgonzola and a raspberry vinaigrette--refreshing and tasty! My main course was a well-seasoned sliced steak with the most amazing potato casserole. Of course, they also have a full bar, fine wines and many speciality drinks. My only complaint was the service. We asked for small plates to share our first course and these were never brought. It also would have been nice to have had a spoon for the calamari so as to taste the broth. Otherwise, a terrific dining experience. Will eat here again.

An update to my prior reviews- don't get me wrong - this is still my favorite upscale dining restaurant on the island. However, I felt like this past trip they were missing a step. The food was still delicious but the atmosphere was just not as cool, just not as intimate. There was a couple there, I'm assuming locals, who were celebrating an anniversary. The owner brought them champagne; the chef personally delivered their meals. There were only 5 occupied tables in the restaurant that night but neither the chef nor the owner stopped at any other table to ask about the meal,etc. They would have only received positive feedback so I'm surprised they didn't take an extra minute for the personal touch.
We will come back in hopes that things change again for the better.
