“Don't let the secret out!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2011

As a couple who loves traveling to tropical islands we picked Villa Margarita over boutique hotels we typically lean towards because of the rave reviews and we are so glad we made that decision! Villa Margarita lived up to every expectation we had after reading all of the excellent reviews! Adele and John are wonderful hosts and the bottle of Cruzan cocount rum in our room upon arrival in addition to our "arrival cocktails" prepared by Adele were welcoming, refreshing and a perfect way to start our vacation! We stayed in the one-bedroom suite and immediately loved it! There are lovely views of the ocean in every room (even the bathroom!) within the suite. The suite was very clean and comfortable. Between the bed being soft and plush and the sound of the ocean waves, we slept like babies each night. (I must say though that the next time we stay on island, we'll be taking up in the studio. It's on the main floor and offers direct access to the pool, shares the patio in the back of the house and has a larger patio table to eat on. (Not a huge deal, but we loved the cozy feel of the studio after peeking in it since it was vacant during our stay.)
The weather was picture perfect. We certainly were very lucky as the day we arrived was the first day it didn't rain in 3 weeks! We had perfect weather every day of our vacation.
Our favorite places to eat were Rowdy Joe's, Eat @ Cane Bay (we ate at both of these places 3 times each), Duggans Reef and Bluewater Terrace. Amazing food and drinks at each location! Turtles Deli in Fredericksted was yummy as well! The Tropical sandwich was HUGE...my husband and I shared it!
A few highlights of our trip were diving with Anchor Dive Center (located 3 minutes away from the Villa), Carambola Spa (located about 15 minutes west of the Villa), snorkeling, hiking Point Udall to get down to Jack and Isacc's Bay for the most pristine beaches and breathtaking views anywhere on island! But we definitely can't leave out paddleboarding! That was my most favorite water activity! We went out with Bill at Paddlesurf St. Croix who immediately made us feel at ease as he patiently gave us a lesson on paddleboarding before my husband and I jumped on and took off! So much fun, I can't stress it enough! I wish that we hadn't waited until the last full day of our trip to do that because we would have gone out a couple more times. Definitely a must do next time we're on island.
I B Designs downtown Christiansted is a must for jewelry lovers! Beautiful pieces and a friendly staff that explain the meaning of each piece to you!
We loved our stay here on St. Croix. So much to see and do for an active couple like us! However, beaching it or hanging by the pool with fruity rum drinks suited us too. There is something for everyone here! We can't wait to come back!

Room Tip: Studio is on main floor w/ direct access to pool.

Just got back from 5 days at Villa Margarita. Despite the fact that the weather didn't completely cooperate, we had a great time staying with John and Adele. Because we enjoyed our previous stay so much, we brought 2 couples back to St. Croix with us for our 2011 stay. The rooms were neat and tidy, the kitchenette was plenty for our needs and location was just beautiful. The new decor for the rooms was very nice (nicely done Adele). The happy hours that were hosted by John and Adele were...very happy. Overall, the accommodations were great, especially for the price. John and Adele will give you the privacy or party atmosphere you want. If you are looking for daily maid service, breakfast to be provided each morning, and a restaurant on the premise...go to Carombola for $400 a night. If you want nice accommodations, friendly owners and a good price...Go To Villa Margarita! We will be back soon!

Very nice inn at St. Croix. Lovely location and view. Fell asleep to the sound of the ocean. We were (largely) unable to hear the other neighbors staying at the place. We were greated warmly. We had some minor quibbles about certain things about our stay, but turned out it was largely a misunderstanding between ourselves and the owners. We exchanged emails, and the owners were able to resolve our issues after the fact. Over all, I strongly recommend staying here.

My girlfriend and I were looking for a clean, quiet place to relax away from the touristy crowds so common to the caribbean islands but still within close proximity of beaches, restaurants, shopping, etc. After much research using TripAdvisor we decided on Villa Margarita located on the north shore of St. Croix (it was the many glowing reviews that persuaded us).

What we discovered at Villa Margarita was a place that lived up to the many, many outstanding reviews. It's a quaint, well-cared-for inn located oceanside. We never closed our windows the entire week and slept to the peaceful sound of ocean waves nightly before waking to the most beautiful view of the ocean (we stayed on the 2nd level in the 1 bedroom suite). The kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom was stocked with everything we needed.

Our hosts John and Adele were wonderful. They were welcoming, inviting, fun, and gave us great advice on what to do while on the island. We even joined them for bingo one night at Off the Wall restaurant where my girlfriend won the jackpot...talk about a celebration! (bingo is a MUST when staying at Villa Margarita...they have quite a history of winners...)

All in all it was a great vacation. I highly recommend Villa Margarita while vacationing on St. Croix. It was everything we were hoping for...

Thanks John and Adele!

This is the best of the best places to stay anywhere in the Caribbean. The accommodations were perfect. The hospitality was unsurpassed. The view, the location, I could go on and on. Adele and John are the bests hosts and so helpful. We will return as often as we can.

Room Tip: They're all great!

For the second March in a row, we had the priviledge to stay at the Villa Margarita. While we only had the time to stay 5 nights this time, it was just as great as our week in 2010. The location is fantastic...sit on the balcony or sleep at night with the sliders open and listen to the surf below. There isn't another sound out there...it's so peaceful. We had the one bedroom suite again and it's so warm and inviting. Adele and John are available if you need them and not if you don't. In fact, we saw them when we arrived Saturday and didn't see them again until Monday! We've been to other B&B's and the owners are always there, making you feel like you're invading their home but not here. You are made to feel like it's yours. We just can't say enough about the Villa Margarita even though we'd like to keep it a secret to make sure it's available for our full week in 2012!

My wife and I just returned from a week at Villa Margarita. We initially could not believe the great reviews and ratings (52 out of 52 Five star ratings?... s-u-u-r-e), but now we can, and will add our own. We thoroughly enjoyed the Villa and the hosts, John and Adele. But perhaps that's because the Villa had everything we seek in a vacation place... great ocean views, soft constant breeze, fine beach just a 4 minute walk away, complete privacy when we wanted it, company when we sought it, and excellent advice about anything St. Croix when we needed it. The room (we had the Studio which suited us perfectly) was spotlessly clean, well-decorated, with a quite functional kitchenette, breakfast table on a wide deck, fan, AC ( though we did not need nor use it), free wireless internet (which we also did not use), an excellent bed, great sleeping with only the sound of the waves,. We had to force ourselves to leave t osee the island. We suggest a leisurely trip around the island's perimeter one day checking out the beaches ( Judi of St. Croix served us well with a car), and a sailing/snorkling trip to Buck Island with Captain Karl of Buck Island Tours another day, to return to an afternooon of reading around the pool, and to await the twice weekly happy hour hosted by John and Adele. We appreciated the chilled bottle of wine on our arrival, the thorough mid-week cleaning by Adele, the DVD and paperback library, DISH TV, with free HBO, island literature galore, and the use of snorkel equipment when we needed it. We urge visitors to eat at two places: Rowdy Joe's, nearby, for it's excellent creative chef and menu (try the steak or fish tacos particularly) and Turtle Deli in Fredericksted (Rachael's Rueben is the very best sandwich we have ever tasted... split one , they're huge!). But while the ilsland was fine, the people very friendly, and the pace perfect, the real advantage of Villa Margarita was Adele and John's care, thoughtfulness, attention to detail, and general friendliness. If you're looking for a large resort experience, this is not for you, but if you want an intimate romantic, quiet, and cared-for week, Villa Margarita is your place. We rarely return to an island or place we've visited as there are so many places to see, but the Villa Margarita would be at the top of our list of places to return to. We recommend it without reservation.
