My husband and I booked this hotel for our honeymoon. When the taxi dropped us off, the driver asked us if we were sure we wanted to stay there... he offered to drive us to a nicer hotel in a "better area". we were walked to our room to see that the hotel is falling to pieces. There were literally boards falling off of the bridge walkway we took to get to our room. she then apologized that our honeymoon suite we paid for was unavailable, and that she would have to put us in a room that she didnt usually put guests in. ON MY HONEYMOON! the room had no blankets on the beds. the old sheets that were on the two twin beds (again... ON MY HONEYMOON!) had cigarette burns through them and blood stains. there was a family of mosquitos in the room. the tv didnt work. the cord on the telephone had been cut. the little fridge that was in there was broken and flooding the floor. the bathroom was disgusting and i would not walk anywhere without my flip flops. the music from the surrounding bars is SO LOUD. I witnessed someone being beat in the alleyway beside the hotel and was warned not to leave the room without my husband. we decided to stroll around the area shortly after we arrived. when we returned, we discovered that our room had been broken into through the AC unit in the wall. the burglar broke everything he could and robbed us of everything we had left in the room. Mary the owner would not allow us to use her phone to call the cops (ours was stolen and the one in the room didnt work). finally our neighbors let us use their cell, and it took the police 2.5 hours to get there! Mary refused even to speak with us, and her son finally moved us to another room for that night (why didnt they just put us in there in the first place?) and refunded my money only after i begged and pleaded with him for some time. at breakfast the next morning, the owner of a restaurant (Rum Runners) said that she hears stories all of the time of people getting robbed at that hotel and that it is her opinion that Mary is a crook. As we left for our next hotel, (Carambola Beach Resort... WAY BETTER and i paid just a fraction more), we talked with others who had stayed at the hotel that also relocated after just one night... fearing their safety at Club Comanche! Id post photos but my digital camera was stolen.
