“Doesn't Get Any Better Than This”

Tamarind Reef Hotel

We've been back for almost 2 months and still can't decide what was the best part of our stay at Tamarind Reef. Was it the people? Was it the beauty of the resort or the beauty of the whole island? Was it the snorkelling..the food...the drinks...the comfort. I guess it was just everything. We will be back!

we stayed at the tamarind for 10 days & had a great time. the deep end bar is the place to be; you get to meet a lot of locals like woody, lou, & laurie & the staff there will take great care of you. say hi to char for us, kenna, jane, jennifer & colleen, & especially lisa, the chef, who made us some fabulous meals & even cooked what we asked for. the prices are very reasonable; the red snapper that lisa prepared was awesome & only $14.00. the little beach was clean & jerry at the beach shack will take good care of your snorkling needs & has a great swim suit collection as well. and ladies, be sure to ask about the mermaid t-shirt & how to get one!! =) our entire experience was very positive & we felt safe the entire time as well. roy, the night watchman is a fun guy to visit with if you stay up to close down the bar & he is a great dj too so if you're there when he's playing you will have a blast. be sure to call 007 for your taxi service, he's awesome, & if you want to rent a car for a day or so to get around we'd recommend it but you don't need one the whole time; taxis were 3.50 per person to most places. we visited the buccaneer because we were in st croix for a wedding there & it is beautiful but don't try to go barefoot or shirtless as there is a dress code. the locals at the deep end told us they call it the "Buck-a-minute" & we found that to be true. at the tamarind it is more relaxed & laid back, which we liked. the galleon is very nice & close by & we would recommend the snorkling at buck island,(we went on the Big Beard catamaran) & the st croix brew pub on the boardwalk in christiansted. rumrunners was good, too. we did some scuba & had a good time w/ the folks at dive experience. it's a nice little shop & they take good care of you. be sure to pick up a crucian hook bracelet at sonya's or the carribean bracelet shop & take some flavored rum home w/ you, too. you get 6 bottles per person. have fun. carol & len

Very nice spot, Quiet and secluded with a small beach with some snorkeling. We stayed here for one night prior to moving over to another property for the rest of the week. Very friendly staff, rooms were a litttle pricey for a quaint little inn. The Galeon restaurant at Green Cay Marina next door is very nice as well. Gerry who runs the snorkel equipment/T shirt shack on the beach is quite a character. An Island note: If you venture out to any of the secluded coves or beaches particularly on the west side by Frederiksted do not take anything of value and check with people who are familiar with the Island. My wallet, camera, car keys and personal items were stolen off the beach while we were snorkeling in butler bay within clear view of them.

“I love it!”

I love it! Frequent business traveller to St. Croix, and this is my #1 choice in hotels. It is not the Ritz, the Four Seasons, or even a decent Sheraton, but it is comfortable, and staying there you immediately become part of the family. The Deep End is my kinda place! Lots for the family to do. Quiet and peaceful. They even have wireless high-speed Internet for that must-have techie (something the Buccaneer only provides in the lobby area).

“Great Place to stay”

We just got back from STX and stayed at Tamarind Reef for 7 nights. This is a great little place to stay. Small but fits the need very well. If you want a lot of partying, it's not for you. However, the Deep End Bar at the Tamarind Reef is a great place to hang out. Locals come around and it has great food along with great drinks and very reasonable in price. We had fish the first night we were there and it was the best I had while on the island. They have a sufficient free continental breakfast with the usual selection of a variety of breads, fruit, juice, cereal & etc. We had a room with a kitchenette which worked out nice for bottled water & beer. The staff was wonderful and we received great service. Never had a problem with slow service at all with the hotel or the Deep End Bar.
There are patios with each room. The pool is a nice size and very clean. This is not a luxurious hotel, but is very clean and accomodating. The beach is great for snorkeling and a guy by the name of Jerry works the beach shack handing out snorkeling gear to use for free. We took a buck island tour out of the Marina which sits right by Tamarind Reef and was glad we did. That was through Capt. Heinz on a 42ft. catamaran sail boat. He was great. It was very convienient instead of going into Christiansted for a tour.
It is about a 4 minute drive to Schooner Bay Market to pick up food or drinks. Christiansted is only about a 15 minute drive. It is in a good location if you are not going to be renting a car, but taking a taxi. That basically sums it up and feel free to email me with any questions.
