My boyfriend and I stayed at the Pink Fancy from March 24-March 31. Booking through their website was a cinch. We took a cab from the airport ($11 per person) and Kevin, the manager, greeted us with his signature Rum Punch by the pool!
The property is painted in very lively colors, which was refreshing. Sally and Peanut, the dogs, made the place feel like home and the three tortoises were fun to watch. We made great conversation with the other guests who were staying there as well. Every morning and evening we shared the day's adventures and learned a bit about one another.
We were quite surprised how big the rooms in the lower level were. We stayed in Sweet Bottom and had a full size bed and a daybed in the room. The walls seemed pretty thick because we didn't hear anybody next door to us.
The location of the Pink Fancy was great too! We were one block from the end of the boardwalk where the seaplanes take off. We walked to the boardwalk pretty much everyday to stop at the local eateries and shops. The maps of Christiansted are deceiving. It's not as big a town as it looks. We could walk to everything in town, which was good since we didn't rent a car (but AVIS and Budget are on each end of the boardwalk if you choose to rent). The closest beach is located on the Hotel on Cay property, a short ferry ride from the end of the boardwalk.
Kevin was SOOO accommodating to all the guests. He provided suggestions for things to do or places to eat based on your mood, appetite, or price range. He helped coordinate day trips for you too, if you asked. I recommend the Sweeney Island Tour (that's how we saw the rest of the island without a car) and the Caribbean Sea Adventures to Buck Island. He took us with him on his errands through town so we could get some items we left behind (much appreciated). Kevin shared a good laugh with us in the evenings when we hung out with him until the wee hours, of course over that Rum Punch again.
St. Croix isn't a place "TO DO" a lot. It's a small island where the locals live. It was perfect for what we were looking to do, relax! But you can take a seaplane or ferry to visit any of the other Virgin Islands.
Thanks for a great vacation! I'm sure we'll see you again.
