“DO NOT leave St Croix before you visit Waves!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2014

After a casual conversation about craft cocktails and amazing food at a local dive shop we decided to stop in Waves for happy hour. It's located on the north shore just east of the world famous Cane Bay, just a few houses north of our villa for the week.

This little piece of paradise was one of one of our top 5 highlights of our visit to St Croix!

Chris, our bartender and appetizer guide become is an ambassador for the incredible experience of Waves! His personably conversation and knowledge of the food and drink were exactly what we needed to fully enjoy this remarkable spot. He's a great story in the making of stepping away from the 'normal' mainland life and living out your dream in a Caribbean paradise!

To start the night Chris introduced us to the craft cocktail menu designed by Andrew the chief mixologist and tiki torch lighter! His skill at both were shining that night. A great collection of 6-7 perfectly balanced cocktails with a variety of spirits and special ingredients demonstrated great expertise in putting together spectacular drinks to get the conversation flowing while sitting feet from the rolling waves of the sea. All cocktails were $8! At true demonstration of the desire to profile great art in a glass and get their art out to the world. If you are looking for a typical touristy overly sweet, ridiculously over alcoholized drink poured out of some pre-made carton of sludge - then don't order anything but water. Your version of a cocktail doesn't exist at Waves.

Then Chris helped us experience three of the outstanding creations of the chef. We enjoyed the fried green olives with a blue cheese dipping sauce. AMAZING! ($5). Lightly dusted in a batter and flash fried then served with a rich blue cheese dipping sauce. We also enjoyed the Kingfish ceviche. Beautiful fresh Kingfish mixed with a couple of veggies and served on a fried wonton. Creative, abundant, outstanding dish! Then we munched on duck breast meatball sliders. I know, you just re-read that last line! They were incredible!! Served on a light and fluffy slider roll with an expertly prepared duck breast in no small portions. Really singular!

The owner of Waves Laura came by and made an instant connection with our group. Her spirit of hospitality was obvious and it created an overall experience that is immersive, connective, and very special. Laura has an ability to attract great people, both to her team of talented servers, food craftsmen, and cocktail artisans, as well as the guests who enjoy a great experience in dining. Her leadership shines in the work of each member of her staff.

Make the drive to Cane Bay and spend a night of one-of-a-kind dining with a first class team of talented and dedicated artists of food and drink. It will be THE meal, actually THE EXPERIENCE, of your time on St Croix that you will talk about for years!

“Great Service, Food and Atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

If you eat anywhere on the island, then you need to include The Waves. Great food, service and atmosphere. Make a reservation and bring some sunglasses to watch the sun set on the ocean while you dine.
Thanks for a great meal and evening.

“Fantastic location and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

This is a really beautiful site with tremendous customer service. Andrew was a top- notch waiter and also gave us nice suggestions for the island. The drink and food menus are really enticing, and my son loved picking his own fresh lobster from the grotto. The calamari was quite good, as was the beet salad. The lobster was very tasty. I wish I could give 4 1/2 stars, but I can't, and i feel when you get in this price range, you deserve to have really high food standards. It was all tasty and I would return, but the devil is in the details. The risotto was a bit underdone. The sauce on the fresh lobster ravioli was just too heavy for the delicate pasta. It's just these little things in a high-end restaurant that make you hole back a bit. That being said, splurge, relax, and enjoy the sunset.

“Fresh lobster”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014 via mobile

We picked our lobster live out of a cage in the ocean! The waves crashing over was great ambience. The owner was very sweet. They had some great cocktails. Very different. It's a very romantic place even though we went as a family. Had the mahi the fresh catch was definitely different. Highly recommend.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014

My husband and I ate at the Waves again on our 4th trip to St Croix. We we lucky and got the table down on the rocks. It was like having a private table at the best restaurant in town! Both the food and the staff were amazing! This is why we return to the Waves every year!
