“Location and Lobster!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

We had dinner at Waves while visiting STX and what a wonderful night it was! Opening air dining with incredible views and so close to the ocean we could feel the salt spray. Walked down to the grotto and chose our live lobsters...doesn't get any fresher than that. Great martinis, excellent service and excellent food. A bit pricey but well worth it. Was a very pleasurable evening and highly recommended!

“The Bugs at Cane Bay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

We lacked reservations for a special occasion, which may have impacted our being ignored longer than usual. While waiting to be acknowledged, we swapped tables once in an attempt to avoid scores of flying insects attracted by the lights. It is rare for us to leave restaurants, especially since the food is highly rated, but we just couldn't ignore the bugs. Since the staff seemed helpless to correct scenario, we remember it by the title name.

“Perfect atmosphere for our anniversary celebration!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

We travelled to St. Croix to celebrate our 12 year wedding anniversary. We were married on the island and hadn't yet returned, so thought this was the year. We were looking for a special place to dine and we sure found it. The Waves could not be in a better spot. They set us a table right down next to the water, you could hear and see the waves crashing in and see the little pool where they keep the lobster trap. The server, who I think was also an owner, was wonderful. They brought us champagne and put flowers on the table for us. We had a cheese plate and the chowder for appetizers and both were very tasty. They serve the cheese plate with homemade crackers and duck pate, both of which were delicious. For the main course, we both tried the locally caught mahi mahi, which was wonderful. We were far too full for dessert, but I'm sure it was as good as everything else.

“Romantic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

Wow! How romantic is The Waves at Cane Bay. We ate there 3 times. They have fresh daily lobster you pick out of what they just caught. The Kingfish is excellent. There Sunday brunch is great too. Matt (server) is GREAT. He is very knowledgeable about the restaurant and the food. He told us about what to do and where to go on the island. Thank you Matt!

“Beautiful Ocean/Sunset view, Great Service & Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

The Waves is a wonderful restaurant that is part of a small hotel along Route 80 in Cane Bay. If you don't pay attention you will miss it but be sure not to! It is literally at the edge of the ocean. The dining room sits just above the water. Ask for a table by the railing or if the water is calm you can actually sit at a table on a rock at the waters edge. Very romantic! As you can imagine the view is beautiful especially at sunset. Not only does this restaurant have its' location going for it the wait staff, wine list and the food are just as great. The staff is very friendly and goes out of their way to ensure you enjoy yourself and your meal. On our first visit my husband had the chowder and I had the beet salad that was served with homemade bread with olive oil for dipping, yum! Large portions and delicious. For the main course we both had a scallop, mussel pasta dish. Again the servings were large and very good. We took left overs home. We enjoyed our dinner so much we decided we would go back another night. This is unusual for us because we like to try new places but the Waves was so good. On our return trip we were greeted like old friends. When we ordered our waiter said the house salad was very large and suggested we might want to split one and he was right. I thought this was very thoughtful. For the main course we decided on the lobster. Well you can't get much fresher than picking your lobster from a trap that they pull out of the water steps from your table. The lobster was wonderful, served with a delicate lemon cream sauce over creamy risotto. Sooooo good. This time we saved room for dessert and split the chocolate torte with coconut ice cream. To die for! As you can tell we really enjoyed dining at the Waves and would go back in a heartbeat. It is one of the nicer restaurants on the island and you can't beat the freshness and the view.
