“Worth the Hike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2014

It's not as bad of a hike as may seem. Go to the tide pool during high tide, you will not be disappointed.

“What a great place to hike!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

This was one of our favorite things to do. The hike from Carambola was challenging, but most people should be able to do it. Make sure you take water and a snack. Go slow, but not too slow because there are small ants everywhere. Once you get to the beach, go to the left to reach the tide pools. We went to the right first to explore, then went to the tide pools. They aren't that easy to get to and the pools are hidden behind the rocks of the shore. Once you get there you get to swim in the tide pools. Our kids jumped off the 10ft. rocks into the pools and had a great time. I consider this a must-do while on the island.

“An experience to mark off your bucket list”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

We hiked from the Carambola hotel to the tidal pools. The hike is narrow and steep in spots so wear appropriate shoes. There were some incredible vistas along the way with spectacular views. We were so surprised when we got to the beach to see that it was covered in rocks. This is the only beach we came across that actually had pebbles and stones on the entire island! We weren't exactly sure where to find the pools, but noticed that several previous visitor had built cairns from the rocks and coral that were found in the area. They directed us to the spot where we needed to climb over the rocks into the pools. We were the only ones at the pools the entire time. There wasn't a ton of sea life but you should still bring your snorkels so you can see what is present. We loved our visit to the pools and the secluded beach and definitely recommend it for others. Those with difficulty walking should not make the hike.

“What a view!”

Wow! It was a very nice hike from our hotel to the Tide pools. Very breath taking view! Love every minute of it! The ocean on that side is so untouched that it feels like you in real paradise!

“Long hike for mediocre destination”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2014

Hiking from the Carmbola Resort is almost 3 miles each way most of the hike is shaded at least, but it was pretty strenous even if you are not in bad shape. The beach before the tide pool is very rocky and the surf was rough so not a good swimming beach. It was not to hard to climb over the rocks to the pool but we wore water shoes (some kind of footwear is really a must). We were there at low tide so we didn't see the waves crash over the rocks into the pool which meant that all you end up with is a medium-sized swimming pool with a few small fish. Lots of people were doing the hike to pool the day we went and it was a weekday June (there were 4 people already there when we got there and we past another 10 hiking there on our way back). If you are on St. Croix for an extended stay go for it but if you are short on time skip this- not worth your time.
