“Nice beach close to Christiansted”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2014

Coming from Christiansted turn left into the Buccaneer entrance- you can't miss the guard gate give them your name and you will be given directions. This was one of the nicest beaches close to town (5 minute drive). We went 3 times over our 5 day stay. The water is very calm even on windy days when the surf was rough at other beaches. There are some rocks in the middle of the beach that provide some interesting snorkeling but there is also long stretches of sandy bottom. The water does get deep quickly in some parts so keep an eye on small children. There was always someone else there when we went but it was never even remotely crowded.

“good swimming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2014

This beach feels secluded despite the fact that it was the most crowded beach I visited in April. (We're talking about STX so by "crowded" I mean there were about 10 other couples there.) The sand is a little sloped but nothing you can't set up a chair on or lay your towel on. Lots of trees for shade. The water was great for swimming and floating on our backs. If there hadn't been so many people there, I think we could have spent an entire perfect day there sunbathing, swimming, and walking the beach. I took some pretty photos going through the tree tunnel. This is a great beach if you are looking for a day of relaxation.

“Beautiful!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2014

What a great beach! The walk in was so picturesque. Like walking through a tunnel of trees, literally. The beach itself was gorgeous. The surf the day we went was pretty rough... not sure if it's always like that. Kinda rough for our boys who were 5 & 6. Our older kids (15, 18 & 18) loved it. Would be more suitable for older kids or couples. It was very secluded, only 2 or 3 others there the whole day! Besides having to keep a close eye on our boys, the beach was beautiful. It was a fun day!

“overrated but okay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2014

enter thru guard gate and tell them you are going to shoys. nice walkway from parking lot to beach. very little sand to put chairs etc. picturesque bay. longer walk but the left end of beach best with more sand and better water access. right side around rocks good snorkeling---beware of current! no faclities, take own chairs and food/drinks but there is shade trees.

“Quiet and secluded”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2014 via mobile

Enter thru buccaneer, right turn before gate, drive to end of subdivision rd. Cool 1 minute walk thru trees. We were the only ones there. Not for those looking for excitement chairs or bathrooms.
