“Gorgeous beach!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

We were fortunate enough to visit St. Croix when Sandy Point is open on the weekends (not during active turtle nesting season.) This beach is pristine with white sand and gorgeous green-blue water...a delight just to float in the water and relax on the wide beach. Definitely our favorite beach on St. Croix!

“Soft white sand”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013 via mobile

This beach is very special it's sand is white and so soft on the feet, yes you may go to this beach, however it's main visitors are the turtles that have the rights to this beach several months out of the year.

“Beautiful and Safe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

I am sorry Beis1 had a bad experience. He walked through an area that tourists do not usually go to. St. Croix is not like he described. I live here and have never had an experience like his. First of all, he was not at Sandy Point. Sandy Point is a preserve which he may have reached at the end of his walk. Usually you drive in through a gate; it is open 10-4 on Sat and Sundays and is patrolled by the Fish & Wildlife officers. The beach and swimming is fantastic but there is no snorkeling. It is usually closed from April to Oct for turtle nesting. His review is not of Sandy Point but of a strip of land south of F'sted town. There are a couple of nice hotels along this strip and there is some good snorkeling.

“Take a taxi everywhere. DO NOT WALK FROM THE PORT TO THE BEACH.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

First off: This is not a safe island to take your family to. Always keep your head on a swivel; and take a taxi everywhere.

My wife and I walked from the cruise ship port to Sandy Point....bad idea. The neighborhoods you walk through on the way are VERY sketchy. Several locals, all on some sort of drug, absolutely hate tourists. We joined up with another family walking to the beach, to have strength in numbers. Several 30-some year old locals would circle us with bicycles and skid their brakes to intimidate us the entire walk. And locals in cars would speed by us and veer into us on purpose. Bottom line, if you want to see this beach, take a taxi. There is a swimming pool, shower, and bathroom at the so called "Sandy Point Resort". The resort consists of a broken gate, gatehouse, swimming pool, outdoor overhang, showers, and picnic tables right at the entrance of the National Park.

We were there last week (August 2013), and the beach area, once it enters the National Park area, is closed off due to turtle nesting season. There are areas right before the Park area that is not closed. The water is clear as can be and beautiful.

I feared for our safety on this island, even at populated beaches (where policemen guarded the parking areas). Due to the locals being so aggressive and menacing, I will never return to this island, or waste my precious vacation days on this island. It's sad, because I'm sure there are other places that are nice.

“A Crucian Must See Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

Sandy point is a long stretch of pure white soft sand the runs around the south Western most point of Saint Croix. It is a nature (Sea Turtle) conserve and as such is only open to the public on certain days. Parking is great and it's close to the beach.

The water get's deep fairly quickly off the beach and there is no shade...again, no shade so if you want to spend more than a hour here bring some sort of sunshade because it get's hot in the calm of the west end.

There's no reef or much to do here other than relax (lyme) in the sun, enjoy one of the most spectacular beach views in the Caribbean and get a tan.
