“Great Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

This was our second time staying at the Reef Residences and we will definitely return. Staff are fantastic and very accommodating, Newan is fantastic. Grounds and rooms are clean and well-kept. Location is perfect - away from the busy central Grace Bay and on the best part of the beautiful beach, but within walking distance of many restaurants and cafes.

Accommodations are fully equipped with fully-functioning kitchens, baths, DVD player, WiFi is included and since it's a 60 second walk to the beach the prices are very reasonable.

The coral reef is right out front and access to exciting snorkeling. We saw turtles, giant Grouper, schools of colourful fish. All and all a dream vacation. We can't wait to go back.

Booked the Reef Residences on a very last minute trip to Provo. We weren't necessarily looking for condo or budget accommodation but, it would seem that every single property on the island was fully booked during our stay dates. Finding availability at Reef Residences was a relief and we booked it on the spot. We weren't sure what to expect but, the reviews were positive so we went with few expectations and lots of excitement. This is the first time we had vacationed at a condo-hotel so, it was an entirely new experience to begin with.
The staff here are hands-down wonderful. We felt very well taken care of and we were given great advice re: local restaurants, car rental and beaches to visit. Any request or question was dealt with professionally and efficiently.
The location of the Reef Residences is amazing. The beach is literally a 2 min walk down a short path. There are loungers for the hotel and towels are provided. The beach is unbelievable just as others have reviewed. It is literally 10 steps away from the reef. All day long you will find others making the trek to the beach to spend some time snorkelling here. We were lucky to have the reef literally outside our door. If you are a snorkelling fan - this is definitely the location you want to be in. We saw 11 varieties of fish on our first day.
We had a 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment on the ground floor. There is no beach view and this is a shame although, our terrace had beautiful pink flowers and sitting outside was very pleasant. The ambiance of our condo reminded me a bit of Florida rather than an exclusive Caribbean destination but, that is just a personal observation. Our terrace didn't face the pool but, I was happy to have the privacy nevertheless.
When we first entered our condo, we were very pleased with what we saw. The furniture was neutral and actually quite comfortable! The beds weren't the highest quality but, it wasn't a deal breaker. The kitchen was equipped with stainless steel appliances which, were fully operational. All in all, the apartment was tasteful and provided all the necessary comforts but, the finishings were lacking (ex. tile countertops, dated showers etc.). You knew you weren't in a 5 star hotel but, for the price and last minute bookings, we really didn't mind. After a few days, the unit began to feel like home. The condo was clean and daily maid service was a definite bonus. We bought groceries at IGA which is nearby and we had breakfast in-house every morning.
The clientele at the Reef Residences seemed to be 40+ while we visited. We did not see any families while we were there which lent to its quiet atmosphere. This is something that we were looking for so for us, it fit the bill perfectly. Every time we passed a guest, we were greeted with a friendly hello... We felt like we were amongst friends. The happiness at Reef Residences was infectious.
Finding the resort is quite tricky your first time out. If you are renting a car, tell whomever is giving you directions that you are looking for the Windsong Resort. The condo units are literally attached to the Windsong. Also, it is very near Beaches Resort. The first time we drove to the resort, it took us 1.25 hours which, it should have only taken us 20 min because the woman at the rental car desk didn't know where the Reef Residences were and sent us on a wild goose chase. If you want to do more than visit the Grace Bay Beach then renting a car is highly recommended. We were told that taxis were infrequent and very pricey so it made more value sense to rent. Look for local rental companies rather than large American chains... They are much less expensive and definitely more pleasant to deal with.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay at Reef Residences. The friendly staff and guests, the great location and practicality of the condos made our stay quite enjoyable. Even though we prefer to be pampered as hotel guests with on-site restaurant facilities and expansive swimming pools, being autonomous and exploring the island was very interesting. Provo is not like Punta Cana with all its all-inclusive resorts or Aruba with its high-rise hotel zone so, we just went with the flow and did what most visitors do while in Provo. We would definitely recommend this condo-hotel with a big thumbs up.

My wife found this gem. We were searching for a condo-style accomodation because we like the added room and do much of our cooking while vacationing. That was especially important on this trip because we understood that TCI is an expensive place to vacation. So true. Lunches with one drink each (2 people) were always over $50.
Reef Residences (RR) is a cluster of three, identical buildings around the pool, each with four one-bedroom units up and four two-bedroom units down. Each upstairs unit has a small veranda with a table two chairs. It was a nice place to sit, but don't expect to see the ocean. RR is back a few hundred yards from the beach, with the view blocked by trees and/or the resort between RR and the beach. Still, our veranda looked out over the pool to one side and the riot of beautiful, flowering trees to the front and othe side.
The downstairs units had a large, outdoor seating courthard. Tucked into the corner of the unit, two walls of the courtyard are closed and the other two are semi-open, with a low wall and arch and more of the dense, tropical flowering trees.
The pool is small but nice. There are four umbrellas with two loungers each and two unbrella tables with four chairs each. Only once during the week were all of the sitting areas filled. We met some wonderful folks sitting around the pool. I think we were the only Americans. Provo, at least at this time of year, is clearly where Canadians vacation. Each afternoon, you are welcome to a comlimentary rum bunch (the official island cocktail, available everywhere ... and delicious).
We didn't see anyone with kids while there. Most of the guests were 40 - 65 age range, so this isn't party central. It's a quiet and relaxing stay.
Vern, the resort manager, is almost always available in the poolside reception area to provide whatever help you need. Like everyone on this island, he was a warm, friendly and helpful ambassador for TCI. Most days, the owner would also be in the reception area, eager to talk with you about the resort or the island.
Our unit was large, nicely decorated and in very good condition. The burned-out lightbulb in the bathroom was instantly replaced by the maintenance man. The daily maid service was a nice bonus.
For a relaxing stay in quite, spacious accomodations, Reef Residences would be a great choice.

Room Tip: We'd read about a noisy place nearby. We did hear a bit of music coming from the east, but it wa...

Spent a little over a week at the Reef Residences in Provo and didn't want to leave. My wife and I, previous travelers to Turks & Caicos staying at a different resort on Grace Bay, knew exactly what we were looking for on this trip. First it had to be a good value. There are some very expensive properties on this island. Reef Residence was awesome for the price.

From past experience we knew we wanted something relatively close to "Coral Gardens", a walk right out to coral reef that has markers and offers good snorkeling. Everyone from miles around come to this area to squeeze in a couple of hours to get what we had just a hundred yards or so away from our room everyday. Aside from the fauna and flora of the reef we saw a huge eagle ray, a couple of baracuda, some fish we never saw before (have snorkeled some 10 other Caribbean Islands) and sea turtles.

We also wanted a place that was well located to island restaurants and supermarket. This was perfect between Turtle Cove Marina and its many restaurants and the Port-Of Call area with Duty Free shops and some excellent high end and moderate restaurants. A few ice cream shops too. Great Rum Raisin Ice cream at three places! With our rental car we were just seven minutes from either Turtle Cove or Port of Call. This was also one of the most western properties for making the traditional and a MUST ride to Da Canch Shack and also Boogaloos for a more island feel laid back right on the water. Can you say, No problems? ; ) There's also a restaurant a short walk away (six-seven minute walk?) on the beach well named as "Somewhere" that offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and a bar for late night drinks.

Best of all was the property itself. Be sure to go to its web site and check out pictures as well as what other Travel Advisor patrons added to this site. This place was "Aces" all the way. At arrival we were greeted with a rum punch and a big smile. We were with another couple this time wanting to see how really beautiful Grace Bay is said to be. (In my mind one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.) Again look at photos whether stock or by real people. Ya can't take a bad picture of it and its just a 150 step/one minute walk to the beach from our room. That's closer than many resorts we have stayed at. ...and they have their own beach section with lounges and umbrellas. We NEVER had to get into the "save a lounge with a towel" game. There was always a place for us in fact there was always a stack of unused lounges...ha, and they brought a rum punch to us on the beach everyday a little after noon. Nice touch! ...but again I digress, our accomodations!

Our friends were given an upstairs room with lots of space and a nice balcony. We were spoiled being in a suite that had an outdoor, semi-enclosed space with a wraught iron gate and rounded arches defining the area with tropical plants giving a tropical private feel with a huge table and four very comfy oversized padded chairs. We had breakfast out there most every day. It was the perfect place to end the day too. Sooo, relaxing!

We had some 1500 sq ft of living space we were told. The place was huge! Our bedroom, that looked out to our courtyard was perfect in size and decor. Ha, we even had his and her closets. My wife also insisted on his and her bathrooms. I used the one right off the bedroom and she the large one next to a large mirrored closet just five steps outside the bedroom. I went wild that trip keeping my toilet seat up whenever I liked.

As in anyplace I travel I was happy to have a digital code safe in the room for passports and valuables. I also had plenty of closet space along with a couple of drawers in the TV unit.

The huge livingroom dining room had a TV, (much American TV stations) a table for four...more chairs could be added. and a pull-out couch. The fully equiped kitchen had a full fridge with freezer, stove, oven, micro, coffee maker, and dishwasher. There were plenty of utensils, glassware, bowls dishes pans etc.

We didn't intend on cooking at all but the set up made it perfect for our own cooking a couple of times.

Our room was directly in front of the lovely pool. I suppose with the beautiful beach, snorkeling, and fine restaurants the pool was always quiet though we did get to talk to a number of other people staying at the Reef Residences while on the beach.

The full court with pool has a feeling of luxury. Loved it.

We liked the service. Verne was a quiet guy but quick to get us anything we needed. The staff cleaned our room to perfection every day.

Loved that we could slide four doors for a complete exposure to our outside space from our living room. We had no insects bothering us. During the hotter part of the day the A/C took care of business.

Our friends, though not on a ground floor room liked their rooms for space and comfort. One of them also enjoyed the exercise room most every day. Me, I enjoyed waiting for the rum punch whether at the peaceful pool or the beach. Reef Residence had everything we knew we wanted after visiting the island once before. Location was a prime reason but the luxury sure didn't hurt.
All was perfect and can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Rooms with the downstairs court poolside were the best for us

First let me say that Leanne & her entire staff in Canada & Turks are amazing to work with & can not do enough for you to ensure your stay is great.

The unit was very clean & functional. QUIET!! Which is exactly what we wanted for our almost 1 month stay. Even during the Christmas/New Years period it was still peaceful.

Bathroom is a nice size, bedroom is good with additional TV. Closet is a bit small. Bed was very comfortable & extra pillows were a bonus.

Daily cleaning was great. We were on the second level & enjoyed the deck every night. Verne & his staff were kind enough to place a small barbque out there for us. A big bonus.

Wifi worked well.

Can not wait to return again!

Clean, quiet, super comfortable. No complaints. The only thing that would have made this stay better is if we had ocean view...but than we would have spent twice as much. Great rate for this amazing location. Woke up early for long walks on beach followed by incredible snorkeling. Every day we saw folks walk a long way to come down to this location to snorkel. Rented a car...drove all over -ALWAYS felt safe. What a place...loved T&C and Reef Residence!

Room Tip: 5201... Best upstairs unit
