If only I had a photo to show you... But the images are still clear in my mind. Turquoise, white, navy blue... The colours of the Turks and Caicos are extraordinary and even better viewed from a boat. We took a trip with Big Blue that included visiting iguana island and snorkeling on the reef. We were a small group of six with two staff. We were told that the trip needed only four people run, so as we are a family of four we knew we were good to go. Everyone at Big Blue were really friendly, welcoming and relaxed. Who wouldn't be, what a dream job! Our first stop was iguana island, so beautiful and fun to count the iguanas. We had some time to wander up the beach and enjoyed spotting iguana tracks in the sand. The onto a spin around some of the other cays, just being on the small clean fast boat was great fun. Another stop at another stretch of isolated pristine beach, an idyllic walk along the shore line spotting beautiful sea shells..... Finally we crossed the water to the reef. The water was a little choppy, but we always felt safe. One of the staff stayed on the boat and one accompanied us snorkeling. When my husband led our teenage daughters exactly where we were asked not to go ( towards the white waves breaking over the reef) the guide swam quickly over and pointed in the right direction. The sealift was wonderful, fascinating. Beautiful large fish of many different colours. The trip also included very generous snacks of hom-made muffins, brownies and fresh fruit, crisps and fruit juices. A very memorable day out. Expensive, but everything here is, but we appreciated the small group. Another snorkeling trip we were thinking about with another operator takes out groups of 40 or so. We prefer a more personal touch. The highlight of our holiday.
