“Quiet and Relaxing Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2010

We went with a five year old and a one year old and had a fantastic time. We love to snorkel, so it was really convenient that we didn't have to travel to a snorkelling spot, especially with young children in tow. We had a one bedroom and they provided us with a crib. The full kitchen was extremely useful for making baby formula, preparing snacks for the kids etc. Lots of tv channels, my son was very happy to be able to watch his favourite cartoons. The resort and room was very clean, the shower was huge, all four of us were able to stand in there with room to spare. We ordered take out burgers from Somewhere on the Beach next door when we didn't feel like dining out. The washer/dryer in our room was also a great convenience. We stayed for 10 days and the time went by so quickly! We rented a car for a couple of days, explored the island, other beaches and went to the Conch Farm (great place to buy souveniers). We were satisifed with the continental breakfast that was included. Despite people from the Beaches Resort walking over to our side of the beach to snorkel, we did not find it crowded at all. At any given time, there were no more than 10-15 people max. Usually there's less than 10 people in the water. We always got lounge chairs and an umbrella. Charles was very good shooing people off the chairs if they didn't belong to our resort.
It was a very quiet, relaxing, peaceful vacation. We liked how it was a luxury boutique hotel, no crowds to deal with. We walked by the beach area at the Beaches Resort, there were probably 200 lounge chairs, side by side, packed like sardines. On our beach we were spread out with lots of room. We were also the only ones in the beautiful pool. Oh how I miss T&C! We highly recommend you stay here!

This was a fantastic trip and Windsong exceeded my group's expectations. I traveled with a group of high school friends (7 women - and we are not easy to please). We took some time away from our husbands and children in celebration of a big birthday. Logistically - the hotel is in a beautiful part of Grace Bay - right beside the reef. You can walk right into the clear water and snorkel. The only negative to this is that groups come from the other resorts to snorkel and there are times when there are crowds at the reef. The beach is large enough that the groups do not affect the other side of Windsong's beach. The hotel is relatively new, it was very clean and spacious. Our four bedroom had a rooftop terrace, and it was fantastic. We watched sunsets, sat in the hot tub - it included a grill and refrigerator. The accommodations could not have been better. Plenty of fluffy towels and many of our group thought the beds were comfortable.
Our service was terrific - Samuel was attentive and conscience at breakfast, we enjoyed happy hour with Nick and Winston. They kept the restaurant open later one evening to make sure we got dinner. They gave us good suggestions for other restaurants and excursions. Charles brought us cool towels and drinks at the beach- always smiling. He also made sure the guests got the chairs on the beach rather than the snorkel groups.

Our oceanside, corner room was fantastic and the view incredible. Everyone was helpful and nice.
TIPS: ASK for a corner room if you are ocean side, the views and the fresh air are great. GO to the Graceway IGA if you need/want to buy groceries, beer, etc. It was super clean and had all the familar brands we use at home. A little more expensive, but not shockingly so. We bought an inexpensive cooler and filled it with water, beer & snacks to take to the beach each day. CALL Lige if you need a cab, they will call from the lobby for you. GO on the Outback Adventures Snorkel/Pirate Cruise, inexpensive and great fun for several hours.
Restaurants we liked: Somewhere Cafe, Sharkbite, Conch Shack, Horse Eyed Jacks, Pizza Pizza, Calico Jacks.
Negatives: The internet service was not working in the rooms the whole week but you could use the WIFI in the lobby. We used the shopping service in order to have a few things when we arrived but don't really feel it was worth the price.

I recommend the Windsong very highly. The location was terrific - right on the beach, with a reef right out from that beach, and gorgeous turquoise water. The rooms were lovely, large and well maintained. We had a great view of the ocean from our large balcony. The staff was friendly and very helpful. A nice continental breakfast at the small restaurant next to the pool was included. We also ate some lunches and dinners in that restaurant, which also has a bar that serves drinks on the beach. The food was good. We had a kitchen, so we also did some grocery shopping at the local IGA and ate on our balcony with the fabulous view. The beach goes on for miles - good for walking. This is a low-keyed resort, good for couples, families with kids, or groups of friends. There is no wild night life, which was fine for us, because we loved the quiet. The Windsong is centrally located, a short taxi ride from many restaurants and shopping.

If you're looking for somewhere to simply lay back and relax, Windsong is the place to go. The hotel isn't large like the other resorts, probably holding a max of 30-40 rooms. The customer service, therefore, is absolutely fantastic.

One can rent snorkeling equipment for $5, usually for the whole day unless they're busy. I did that twice. They also have a SNUBA (note: not SCUBA) tour that you can take around the same reef in which we snorkeled. The benefit is that you can go down to a maximum of 20 feet, although it costs $70 per person. I didn't do this, but I heard it was a blast from others who did.

The beachfront is amazingly beautiful. There are two shades of blue water, and it's like nothing you could see in the continental US, where I'm from. The hotel sets out a lot of beach chairs and umbrellas, but only a few were occupied when I was there, and you could ALWAYS find a seat for yourself and a friend or two. There were never any crowding issues. There is a break wall about a mile or two away from the shoreline, so the waves are not very big throughout the entire shoreline, and it is definitely suitable for families.

The pool is very nice. It is adjacent to a hot tub, which was great at night when things cooled off a little bit. The pool has underwater speakers installed, and you can hear the music even when you dive underwater. There is also plenty of seating around the pool.

The wait staff in the restaurant is courteous, and by the end of the trip you know them all by name. The front desk staff is also great. We received a tour of our room from one the concierge lady upon arriving. There is one computer with internet access that you can use for free inside the front desk lobby, and as far as I was aware, I was the only person who used it during my trip, which was during the prime Spring Break season. There is also WiFi in the rooms, though I don't know whether or not it is free. Additionally, you can check out a movie for the night free of charge (there is a $20 late fee, but the rental is 24 hours and you can call them or ask them for an extension). One lady was making a soup and asked the front desk manager if she could trim a piece off of the basil plant; he had no problem with it at all.

My wife and I just got back from our honeymoon on Turks and Caicos at the Windsong resort. Our first impression was that the resort really is beatuiful. The pictures on the website are a good reflection of what it actually looks like. The water right outside of the resort is amazing as are the beaches. We spent a lot of time reading reviews about Windsong prior to going and had heard a lot about Charles. We definitely echo everything positive about the man. He spent 30 minutes on his hands and knees on the beach helping us find my wife's missing rings! With the exception of Charles and a few other employees we felt the service was definitely lacking. The bartender acted put out at having to fix drinks and complained about other vactioners. The room was nice. We got a small studio room with a garden (pronounced: parking lot) view . but we didn't mind that too much since it was clean. We loved that the hotel offers free bikes to take to the store and free kayaks to take out on the water. We rented snorkeling gear for $5/day and spent some time snorkeling right in front of the hotel. The hotel seemed to cater to families with small children so I would not recommend it as a honeymoon spot, but overall we felt it was a decent value.

P.S. If you go, rent a scooter from Caicos Wheels near Graceway, it's the best way to tour the island!

I am writing this review almost a year afterwards.
I picked this place based on reviews from tripadvisor, mainly for its proximity to a prime snorkeling spot and it was one of the higher class resorts with great deals. Also it was one of the newer hotels so I assumed one of the more nicer hotels.

I had booked a "luxury studio" When we met the check in lady she didn't offer an upgrade and showed us to our room. The room was clean and very nice but had a view of the parking lot and was a studio, so very small. Then Jess asked if there were any upgrades to an ocean view room, the lady said that we would have to pay $50 a night for a single suite garden view or $125/night more for an ocean view.

We didn't want to pay for an upgrade, but who wants a view of the parking lot. So we asked the front desk person if we could see the rooms before we agreed to pay for it.

As we were debating whether or not to pay for the upgrade we serendipitously ran in to the Manager Jim.

I asked him about the tourism industry and how its effected them, and asked about the current occupancy rate and he said that the resort was only 60% capacity. He asked me how I booked the room and I mentioned, Hotels.com and that I use a number of internet travel services before settling for windsong. I mentioned how I read up on tripadvisor.com and virtualtourist.com about the great reviews and why we wanted to stay here. He asked us my advise about how I did my trip research, mentioned how he wanted to "know" the customer. He then showed us to the best room in the hotel and said that he would give us the upgrade at no charge! He said if we weren't happy with the room he'd give us another one, but there is no way we could not be happy with the suite we got.

When we walked in, the room was freaking huge. I mean the biggest hotel room we've ever received. It is only slightly smaller than my apartment. Two balconies, 1 full bathroom and a half bath, kitchen with stainless steel and brand new appliances, a 32 inch flat screen in the bedroom, a 46 inch screen in the living room, we are on the first floor and we can walk out of our living room and we're RIGHT on the beach. We have a view of the brilliantly blue turquoise water. It was amazing. A pleasant surprise and of course much better because it was free.

Once we got settled, we were starving, so we went next door to the "coral gardens" resort for lunch. One thing about TCI is that it is pretty isolated, especially with the economic downturn, there are especially less people around. The windsong was really quiet, but we liked that. No kids running around, no big crowds. Anyhow, back to our lunch, the food was so so, pretty pricey for a not so good burger and a basic quesidilla. They say the food is pricey here, probably because they have to import everything.

The windsong was very clean and the room we had was awesome and made our trip. We really enjoyed staying there and we were lucky enough to get this great room. But even without the room we would come back since the location was great. The one thing I would have to agree with some of the other commenters was that generally the service all over the island and in the hotel (minus a couple really nice and helpful people) the service is pretty weak. I don't know what its about, maybe because of the economic downturn and less people coming to the islands. but the people were not nearly as kind and helpful as the service people in our trips to hawaii or the bahamas.
