We always wanted to go to a local fish fry, so when we saw that Provo had one, we put it on the calendar as a "must do"... I'm so glad we did, as it did not disappoint!
Got a cab from our hotel ($7 per person one way) down to the beach.. there were a number of tents setup with vendors mostly selling food and drinks (there were a few others for local businesses). There were picnic tables scattered around, and a band at the end playing Caribbean music.. good dancing music!
Some vendors were selling full meals, of fish and fries.. stuff like that, but some had smaller dishes you could buy individually. I wish more had had these, as there so many different things to sample. Most booths had liquor and beer.. Corona was $5 per bottle, I believe .. probably the cheapest on the island! There was a local drink who's name I don't remember, but it was made of coconut milk and gin.. sound awful, but was actually quite tasty.. a little too sweet for me however.
The locals were out in full force, mixing and mingling with us tourists. It never got too crowded to move around freely. The lines were never long. I felt completely and 100% safe the entire time we were there, and it was a hoot of a time. A great way to spend an evening.
