“Average at best. NO SERVICE.”

Turks & Caicos Club

For the price you pay you would assume you'd get excellent service???

I'll list for those reading what I liked, and what I didn't. Keep in mind that I am a frequent traveler to 4-5 star resorts so i know what to expect for $600/night.

NOT LIKE

1. Breakfast (complimentary) was a joke. You have a choice of 4-5 main courses (waffle, 2 eggs, omelet, ect) and a meat. The food is prepared just like you'd get at a place one step above mcdonalds. Also, BEWARE OF DRINKING MORE THAN TWO CUPS OF COFFEE (the regular watery coffee in old pots). They CHARGE YOU $2.50 for each additional cup (and the cups are small)

2. The women working at the restaurant in the morning were more interested in watching the tv than saying "Good morning", "How are you?"....ect.. In fact RARELY do you get any type of greeting from the staff.

3. The beach staff. There was one woman who RARELY came to see if you wanted anything to drink. She was very nice, but NO SERVICE. The men on the beach didn't go out of their way to see if you needed anything. In fact, the hotel has a catamaran that you, a guest, can go on....
HOWEVER they don't offer it to you. You have to inquire about the catamaran and if you can go on it.

4. Restaurant is behind the hotel. No beach or ocean view. View of pool, which is beautiful, however I'd much prefer to have a view of the beach/ocean. This is important to me, but perhaps not to many of you.

5. Noise from large hotel going up to the left of the hotel (when standing on the beach, looking at the hotel, it's on the left). Only Sunday did they not work.

6. Beach chairs were uncomfortable - not padded at all but simply the ones you can find at Lowe's or Wal Mart.

LIKED

1. Welcome cool towel and rum drink. I was impressed with this, and thought it would set the tone for the entire stay. NOT!

2. Room was huge, full kitchen, nice amenities (Bulgari bath products), nice bed. Huge porch overlooking the beach/ocean. We were on the 1st floor and very few people ever walked by.

3. Coral reef within 5 min walking distance from hotel - excellent snorkeling.

4. Maid service was fine.

5. Beach was to die for - but this was the case down the entire beach.

SUMMARY
We did walk all the way down the beach, and drove as well to many many other hotels to see for ourselves how our place stacked up to the others. We did a few tours, walked around the grounds, checked prices. What we found is that $500-600 is average, not high priced at all. There were quite a few places with restaurants on the beach, versus behind the hotel. I can't comment on the service of any of the hotels in this price range, or the ones for $1000/night that were very nice since we didn't stay there.

As soon as we arrived we felt the hospitality that the staff gave to us especially the owner Rebecca and Abdul. We were greeted with a cool towel and a rum punch. What a nice start to our wonderful experience. We knew we picked the right place to stay.
Our room was another "WOW'. So, roomy and comfortable and you couldnt beat the view from our balcony.
We highly recommend this resort for anyone who wants to feel like family and not a guest.
We cant wait to go back again..........

“T&C CLub, " Absolutely the best"”

Turks & Caicos Club

My son and I have just returned from a 5 nights stay at T&C Club. It was our second visit and it was just amazing, as last year. We had a terrific time, very relaxing. We love the room, the property, and most of all the beach and the off shore snorkeling. We saw Stingrays, squids, turltes and schools of fishes etc. THere are 2 coral reefs, easily accessible, on either side of the resort. The restaurant on site was Zimba, food was good. Complimentary breakfast was nice. Other great restaurants we have tried include Magnolia, Bay Bistro, CocoBistro and GekoGrill. MangoReef was average. Taxis seem more expensive this year than last. Round trip fare to most restaurants cost between $20-30. The staff at TCC was great, friendly, low key but helpful. Housekeeping was fantastic. All in all, TCC is a classy place, we can't wait to go back!!

“Lovely Honeymoon at the T&C Club”

Turks & Caicos Club

Apr 14, 2008
3/3 found this review helpful

My husband and I recently returned from our Turks & Caicos Club honeymoon. The property was lovely, as was our poolside suite.

The pros: Compared with other properties we visited (e.g. the horrific Palms), T&C Club was incredibly serene. The beach was practically unpopulated - sometimes we were the only ones there. And this was during peak season. Such a relief compared with other crowded properties - parts of the Grace Bay strip are beginning to resemble an upmarket Cancun! I would stay at the T&C Club again for the lovely, secluded feeling alone.

Our room was lovely. Clean and new and spacious. No complaints. Free breakfast was a plus. No, the portions aren't huge, but it's a nice way to start the day.

The staff was a mixed bag. They are exceedingly nice. That said, as other reviewers have pointed out, they don't always follow through. We had no problem getting reservations made for scuba and for dinner. But when my husband tried to set up a private beach dinner for the two of us, he was met with puzzlement and ultimately told to deal directly with Simba, the on-property restaurant. Not a huge deal, but it's definitely not five-star caliber service.

Cons: Service in the restaurant during breakfast was achingly slow. We sort of learned to just go with it and never be in a hurry. But you have to be able to make that adjustment.

Overall, we'd recommend this property again in a heartbeat. It was ideal for what we wanted on our honeymoon - understated luxury that's not over-the-top. If you're the type who needs to be waited on hand-and-foot, it's not for you.

“5-star price, 3-star experience”

Turks & Caicos Club

Okay, it's all relative: on Turks-Caicos, $600/nt doesn't buy what it should, but . . .

The Pro's -- Nice intimate size. Large rooms. Good beds. Spacious, well-equipped kitchen. Generous oceanfront balconies. Exterior architecture (Spanish Colonial) reasonably well executed. Landscaping, layout, pool all get a solid A- (no one would call it 'manicured'). Great location on the end of the beach. (This will change, as developments materialize on both sides).

The Con's -- Very mediocre service. Well-meaning, up to a point, but almost every inquiry is met with an, "Ummm, hmmm, I don't know, let me see." Not exactly a can-do, we'll-take-care-of-it spirit of competence. The breakfast is totally bush-league -- don't even bother offering "fresh fruit," if it's going to be hard, unripe cantelope, etc. Beachfront service sporadic and slow. A lot of the interior is cheap Home Depot-grade stuff -- like the fiberglass shower (not a tile in sight) and the flimsy, hollow doors. This is called cutting corners -- it should not be called "luxury"! The chaises on the beach are close together and made of the cheap nylon webbing, not the more cloth-like material, and the umbrellas are small, so they don't cast much shade. The bicycles were old and broken, and a) they make you fill out a form to borrow one, and b) they couldn't produce a wrench to adjust the seats. Lastly, as one reviewer noted, the workout room really is pathetic -- small and almost unbearably smelly. We took one step in and turned around, and that was that -- joggIng outside and other exercise, but no working out in the 'gym.'

All of this would be okay at a third to a half of the price -- what you'd pay at, say, the Alexandra or the Royal West Indies -- but for this price it's a bit much, even by the standards of Turks-Caicos. (In the US, this should be about $50-100 night, almost regardless of location.) Then again, there are trade-offs, and we really wanted a smaller place, so we weren't altogether dissatisfied, but we just wouldn't go back.
