I wasn't expecting anything much but it really turned out to be the perfect hotel on a Caribbean island. There are so many big resorts now that you never get the feel of what the island is like. The Miramar Resort is small, run by friendly locals who smile and say hello. The rooms have a fabulous view of the barrier reef. They are clean and have all the comforts. There is a very nice restaurant and bar on the Miramar Resort property, a must for anyone that likes to dine in style. Its open for breakfast and dinner and happy hour. The property also has a pool, tennis courts and a fitness center but I was on vacation so I didn't exercize much. Turtle Cove Marina is just down the path and you can wander around there all day looking at huge yachts, bar hopping and meeting all sorts of interesting people. I've stayed on Provo at larger resorts but Miramar Resort is now my favorite.

We were staying in a villa in Provo in Jan. 2000, but had to spend the first night in Provo at a hotel We had booked a cheap room near the airport that first night, but they overbooked the hotel, so they bused us to the Erebus. Our room was terrible, The TV didn't work, the bathroom tile and floor was sinking, and when we arrived back to our room late in the evening, the bathroom bulb had exploded and glass was everywhere. We went on vacation with two other couples, and each had there own similar story to tell. Late in the evening, the owners son (who had too much to drink that night) was seen by several members of our party outside of the rooms wrecking the ice machine. It was not a pleasant sleep.The restaurant at the Erebus was very good but a little expensive. After dinner, we went to the bar area. We had a great time. The locals came in late after they were done working and we had a very pleasant evening interacting with everyone. It really saved the first day of the vacation.

Best for the view, everything you need is easily avialable. Miramar has an exquisite restaurant, pool, tennis courts, gym, in-room spa services. Just a walk down the path you have Turtle Cove Marina where there are dive shops, restaurants, fishing charters, car rentals and bike rentals. Just around the corner from that is the beach. If you don't want to walk, the Miramar Resort will give you a ride to the beach. Rooms are clean, bright and comfortable.
